Product Description
The newly updated edition of this manual presents a diagnostic test, a review of all Math Level 2 test topics, and six full length model tests with answer keys and answer explanations. Test topics are reviewed in five separate chapters, each containing many practice exercises and answers. Major topics covered include functions and algebra; trigonometry; coordinate geometry; three-dimensional geometry; data analysis, statistics, and probability; and number and operations. Also included is detailed instruction on the use of graphing calculators. This version of the manual comes with an enclosed CD-ROM that presents two additional practice tests with answers, explanations, and automatic scoring.

4 out of 5 stars Great Book for a Great Score!   June 9, 2008
This book is difficult, WAY more difficult than the actual test. Expect to get 50-100 points more on your actual test. And as the above poster said, it has MANY errors. Sometimes the answers and their choices don't match, and your score comes out wrong.

Why, then, did I give it four stars? Because it has GREAT tactics! Face it, on the Level 2, your greatest problem is timing. This book contains various calculator techniques for almost every type of question that can reduce the time it takes for you to do most difficult questions to less than half the time!

For example, on the SAT on June 7, 2008, there was this question about statistics. 20 students in a class, each has a different number of calculators at home. Find the average no. of calculators per student. If you'd done this manually, it would take you about 2 minutes. If you'd done this with a calculator, you'd be able to do it in less than 30 seconds.

This book teaches very little about actual math, but it really teaches you how to effectively use your calculator on the SAT IIC.

Lastly, as mentioned above, the tests at the end ARE very difficult, but they do help you out a lot. Help you improve your timing, help you solve more questions, and help you become more confident in the end: Just remember that a 750 on Barron's probably means an 800 on the actual test.

1 out of 5 stars Avoid -- better choices available   May 11, 2008

Do not buy this book. The problems are way too hard. If you think this book is like the real test, you will be totally demoralized. My daughter and I consistently scored 150 points lower on this book's tests than on Princeton's practice tests. Also, very sloppy editing. The answer choices are A through E, but the answer sheet only has bubbles for A through D! I found at least one solution that was incorrect. Another thing, in the problem explanations, they always show the "graphing calculator" method first, then "alternatively", explain the mathematical solution. The mathematical method should be explained first.

It's been recommended to me to use the College Board's books for authentic, real tests, so I'm going to try that next.
