Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars good book   August 26, 2008
This book was very helpful to me. Being too nice is not really a good thing.

3 out of 5 stars a much needed book   July 16, 2008

I haven't read this book cover to cover (or received it YET) but I have been going to the bookstore and sitting down and working my way through until my copy arrives from Amazon. After reading only a few pages, I knew that this was a "must have" in my library of Feminine Empowerment. Females are conditioned in this society to be "nice" at all cost and to avoid standing up for ourselves out fear of that we may not be seen as the very thing that is harming us. At first I was unsure if this was a purchase I should make. Some of the case stories in Beverly Engel's book are heartbreaking and can leave you feeling vulnerable, angry and just plain disgusted. Yet, at the same time, I know that these are our stories and they need to be told in order to empower future generations to break the cycle.

I've currently given this title 3 stars because I have not read it fully. But the ovrerall message is excellent and once I've read it completely, will evaluate this again and judge accordingly.
