Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Its round three for Marjorie Brodys highly successful book "Speaking is an Audience-Centered Sport (Career Skills Press)." The third edition of this title, originally published in 1998, was released May 2. With subject matter still relevant to every business professional, "Speaking is an Audience-Centered Sport" seems bound for the presentation skills hall of fame. The latest version includes more sections on technology-related presentation topics, new pictures illustrating proper use of PowerPoint slides as effective visual aids, professional business wardrobe, and additional images that demonstrate dos and donts for gesturing and using visual aids while giving a speech. Of course, there are still the popular chapters on proper preparation and delivery, overcoming stage fright, and handling the Q & A session. Features a special "Meet the Pros" section containing more presentation skills tips and tactics from masters of the platform.

5 out of 5 stars All you need to know about speaking in public   January 21, 2003

Marjorie Brody's information, guidelines & tips are clear, concise, & well-laid out.

Few of us think of speaking to an audience with the same focus as Olympic athletes face their races. SPEAKING IS AN AUDIENCE-CENTERED SPORT can change that for you, especially if you are thinking of a career that will include public speaking.

If you are already grappling with such public presentations, then SPEAKING IS AN AUDIENCE-CENTERED SPORT will be another useful tool in your efforts for effective, memorable communication.

As an author speaking at readings & signings, I devoured SPEAKING IS AN AUDIENCE-CENTERED SPORT, & have returned to it, again & again, to boost my confidence, focus my meandering mind, & remember the tips, instructions & warm-up exercises.

I thought I already knew how to give effective presentations, but Marjorie Brody's book told me I had a lot more to learn. Now I know how to better understand my audience's needs and tailor my presentations to meet them. This is really an excellent book for people in all different fields. I wish all the presenters I listen to would read it too!
