Editorial Reviews:

Book Description
Until now, no one has undertaken the compilation of this reference book which contains descriptions of the terms and events of Greek and Roman sport, and information about the athletes who excelled in those events. This book supplies that information. The dictionary proper lists Greek and Roman athletes, events and terminology in one sequence. Biographies range in length from several lines to several paragraphs. The Appendices contain a listing of athletes and, where applicable, their horses, and a list of citations from ancient sources that appear in the text.
