Book Description One in 50 high school athletes will go on to receive a college sports scholarship. The Sports Scholarship Handbook is the high school athlete's guide to maximizing opportunities in college sports recruiting. It covers the details of being successfully recruited including planning your high school class schedule, getting noticed by coaches, optimizing college visits and dealing with scholarship offers. Events during the recruiting season can happen so fast that there is little time to adjust and no way to start over. There will likely be surprising twists and turns along the way. The most important advice to any athlete interested in athletic aid and a college sports career is, "start early and prepare thoroughly!" This book will help you to get that early start and to anticipate those surprises so that you can maximize your chances of achieving your college sports goals. The Sports Scholarship Handbook has tips, techniques and insights to help you to set achievable goals, to market yourself to coaches and to evaluate the schools and sports opportunities you get. It has up-to-date, essential information about rules for eligibility and financial aid that are new for the 2004-2005 academic year. It shows you how to use the Internet for maximum advantage including researching details about colleges, coaches, sports programs and scholarships. Not every student athlete will end up with a sports scholarship, but every college-bound athlete can benefit from reading The Sports Scholarship Handbook.

It beats the others January 15, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I think Ive looked at all of them. This one's a great guide to being recruited and getting a sport scholarship. No filler, no dopey illustrations, no boring athlete stories, nofluff, no practice questions for exams.
The other books on the subject don't come close. This one's packed with up to date information and great strategies. I only wish it had been available 2 years ago. We have catching up to do!
