Product Description Comprehensive Spanish (L.A.) III includes 30 additional lessons (16 hrs.), plus Readings, which build upon the language skills acquired in Levels I and II. Increased spoken and reading language ability. Level III will increase your vocabulary and grammatical structures and triple your spoken proficiency. Upon completion of a level III, you will be able to: * participate in most informal and some formal discussions on practical, social, and some semi-professional topics, * form longer sentences while maintaining the target language syntax, * be understood even by native speakers unused to dealing with foreigners, * handle increasingly difficult grammatical structures, * enjoy fluent conversations with a variety of strangers, * have a near-native accent, and the subtleties of the language will be apparent in your speech, * read at the same level at which you speak. Note: In order for the Pimsleur Method to work correctly, you must first complete the Level I + II language programs before proceeding to the Level III language program.

A Valuable Teaching Method! October 9, 2008 I have completed Pimsleur's Spanish 2 and found it to be very helpful in teaching me conversation useage! I have now begun Spanish 3 and find it to be equally valuable! I find it best do listen to the lesson every day until I have mastered about 80% just as the instructions suggest. It takes me about a week. The chief advantage for me in using the Pimsleur method is that I gain confidence in my ability to converse in Spanish and not worry when I make mistakes.
This is definitely worth the investment of money and time!
What would be ideal ... August 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Limited experience with the much touted FSI material has not impressed me as much as some posters profess to be. My troubles with FSI, however, are beyond the scope of a post on Pimselur.
Most critiques of Pimsleur concern the limited range of material,bBut Pimsleur is, I think, the best METHOD of teaching language: contextual REPITITON. This is the child's way of learning language indeed.
Repitition (meaningful repitition) insures RETENTION. Pimsleur is very strong in this area, but when it comes to range and depth, PImsleur is sketchy, and needs some very knowledgeable teachers to revamp the content, and deepen it. Pimsleur relies too little on written reinforcement, which, to the literate person, is a powerful teacher along with the audio.
What would be an ideal method for me is to "Pimsleurize" the material in the Practice Makes Perfect series. This would include the PMP verb book, prepositions, and the subjunctive. To be used thus, much of the material in the PMP series should be pared, and then audio-ized a la Pimselur; it would not be useful learning too many verbs, as found in the PMP series, as opposed to mastering, really nailing down, a few. This "product" would take alotta work, would require big bucks backing, but the result would be a fusion of what I have found the best methods: PMP workshops for writing and learning "rules"--but which does not foster high quality retention, and the Pimselur audio method, which is shallow in content and range, but fosters deep retention ...

Here's a very honest review. I've been through all 4 levels of the Pimsleur Spanish Language programs (I, II, III, Plus). It took me about 18 months to get through it all with my commute to work. I went through each lesson multiple times, and I can now go back through the CD's and get probably 95% of it correct. It was an enjoyable introduction to the language, and an efficient use of my time (what else am I going to do in my car?). However, my initial hope was that I'd be able to understand Spanish conversations, radio, and TV. And I must tell you I get maybe 10% of it. Was recently in Dallas where there's lots of Spanish spoken, and I don't pick up much. The Mexican guys that painted my house...couldn't understand a word they were saying. I'm not giving up, from here I'll try more audio courses, classes, whatever is available. But if you're like me and read these reviews in the outset, don't be fooled, it's not all they make it out to be. It's ironic, but after going through their "advanced" courses, I'm still at a very beginner level. I wonder if some of these reviews are written by the publisher. And by the way, I found all 4 courses completamente gratis at my local library. Busca ahi primero.
Another Effective Pimsleur Course August 5, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This course is a direct continuation of the first two Pimsleur Spanish courses, and has the usual helpful repetition, variation, and gradual increase in vocabulary and grammar that make the Pimsleur system so effective. The system is almost entirely auditory, so it is advisable to supplement this course with some reading and writing exercises, if you want to learn to read newspapers or signs, or even to write simple letters. (I was stunned to recently discover that "which" is spelled "cual", not "qual" in Spanish, as I had been visualizing through the first two courses.) But this approach is an excellent way to develop confident fluency in Spanish conversation.

In my opinion Pimsleurs method of teaching/learning a new language is top notch. It is fast, sure and builds confidence fast.I rate it a five star because it deserves it.
