Editorial Reviews:

Book Description
A Stitch in Time, written by “The Voice of the Astros,” Gene Elston, chronicles the extraordinary and exciting highlights of baseball from the early days of the game until today. The reader will find an easy to read day-by-day format beginning with January and continuing through December. The notable events of each day of the year are recorded in Mr. Elston's familiar style.

A Stitch in Time details events from all areas of the game, including notable events in the major leagues, good coverage of the minor leagues, women in baseball, the Negro leagues, as well as behind-the-scene trades, scandals, machinations, and other highlights. Mr. Elston provides a wealth of baseball facts, insight, and rare photos that only a lifetime of involvement in the game can provide. Includes a 10-page index to aid in baseball research.

5 out of 5 stars Old Baseball   June 21, 2001

This book is great if you appreciate both the little guys along with the superstars that make baseball such a beloved game. Not only does it have some recent developments in baseball, but also bookmarks key happenings from the past that have evolved the game. A very readable book for the baseball lover.
