4 out of 5 stars A well researched alternative take on the early Church of Rome   August 23, 2008
I suggest to the readers that its very hard to historically prove that Jesus even existed at all and most that are attracted to this type of reading know this up front going in. We believe Jesuse lived based on faith because until now if we relied on history to prove that out, well, it does not help to prove the fact much. Laurence has done that with some impressive cross references in this book and more. He has also proven once and for all to me that Jesus was indeed married. With that said finding much more than circumstantial proof covering anything on this subject is difficult at best and this, in my opinion is a given before you even take on such a task as the one Laurence Gardner has undertaken here. Personally, I feel he did an admirable job but with proving that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married he has shown that actions speak much louder than words in a way that is very difficult to refute.

I find nothing in this book so outlandish as to suggest it is harder to believe than it is to believe what we have been told by the church throughout history. Not only is there more 'evidence' in this book than there is for many of the borrowed myths and legends many people believe blindly every Sunday as they study 'revised' scriptures from the much edited, mistranslated, numerous copies of the bible and other literature available today in Christianity but once again Laurence Gardner has shown why he is one of the tops in this field of study. Granted, some speculation is shared in this book but in my opinion no more so and perhaps less than can be found in Catholisism and Christian literature as a whole. In many ways Laurence answers and puts to rest many of the riddles of the church that they would rather not discuss and also his take on things makes more sense in more than a few ways.

I found the Grail Enigma a good read, but not on par with his past works. I do feel however that it is well researched and documented as well as anything that comes to mind that I have read, which is much on this subject. I do not agree with all of what Laurence supposes at times but I do find that he presents his arguements very well, with great effort to not just suggest something blindly, but to first make an outstanding attempt to cross reference the material before it is presented. As a result of this his theories are often times believable, and even his weaker theories are at the least as believable as those presented by the church itself. I give the book four out of five stars easily and feel its a fine edition to add to your library of other reference materials. I certainly don't regret buying the copy I have.

Every woman that cares about how history turned on them and when should read this book. It explains how women were degraded systematically and routinely from Mary Magdalene on and more specifically from "Tertullian" on by the church when his papers became widespread and this presents a very good picture that women were at the least on equal standing with men in all matters until the church stepped in and changed all that with it's early campaigns against women. This book also points out how Mary Magdalene was considered a Saint by other estabished Christian religions that remained outside the influence of the Church Of Rome at this time in history and this leads one to ask how it is that the Church of Rome could ever make this up to those they brutally killed for the same belief they now have adopted themselves today as of 1969. I believe that those that adhere to the Church of Rome being a 'holy' office will find this book difficult to read but if you are like many of us that although raised Catholic were left with many questions and riddles that the church could not, or would not answer to your satisfaction then you will probably find the book a very worthwhile read and very enlightening.

Lastly, if you enjoyed the "Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown it is my opinion that you will find this book by Laurence Gardner much much more enjoyable. I know I did.

5 out of 5 stars Science of metaphysics?   July 11, 2008

Science?
Metaphysics?
Occult?
Religion?
Extraterrestrial?
Mystery?
All of the above.
Mr. Gardner's inquisition of the ORME theory is explosive.
Another dimension of religions, mysteries of the creation and much beyond.
Great book for the open mind.

5 out of 5 stars Very intriguing   June 21, 2008

Laurence Gardner's wide knowledge of history and the occult becomes handy. In this book, he establishes a link between alchemy, ORME, the White Powder of God and the DNA of Mary Magdalene. Quite interesting. Jesus is no longer a Messiah. Mary Magdalene is no longer a whore as portrayd by the Vatican. New identities emerge; they are what you have not expected. You should read the book to enjoy the mysteries and amazing portrayal of these two famous Biblical legends.
The book will grasp your attention. It has many dimensions: Alchemy, religion, metaphysics, science and psycho-astrology. It was a good time I spent reading it.

5 out of 5 stars Grail Enigma dissolves into ORMUS revelations   June 12, 2008

Laurence Gardner does a fine job, as always, leading us to the gate and door; he shows us the key and the empty space that awaits the arrival of the key. However, the inner sanctum remains inviolate; as it should be. We are lead to the Holy of Holies, but not INTO the Holy of Holies. We are enthralled with the final realizations of what really happened to Mary and Jesus... but the mystery of mysteries remains aloof, inviolate. For those who prefer to move beyond Gardner's academics, "ORMUS- The Secret Alchemy of Mary Magdalene Revealed" will satisfy... The Grail Enigma will eventually be resolved through the revelations discovered in the ORMUS Alchemy phenomena- Mary Magdalene's own Secret Alchemy. The works of Sir Laurence Gardner tantalize and mesmerize but they cannot satisfy. A great map to the treasure trove, yes... but never really explains what the treasure is. We learn about Mary & Jesus as the "stewards" of the treasure, the Grail or Philosopher's Stone... but the final Secret of Mary Magdalene's Alchemy remains as yet cloaked in a Mystery that defies even the prying "hands" of Gardner and his kind. Read all of Gardner's books, yes! but if, in the end you still thirst for the water of life, you will have to understand the mysteries of ORMUS... and Gardner, after all these many books has not revealed as yet The Secret Alchemy of Mary Magdalene. Perhaps this is for the best...
