This book almost forces the audience to know their alphabet. Although some parts are too advanced for a new reader, the book contains some basic vocabulary words. "Eye Spy" is based on homophones, words that sound the same but meaning and different spellings. For example, there and their or sea and see are all homophones. The reader has to find similarities between four pictures, and they must find a clue in the forth picture that begins with the next letter of the alphabet a relates to the four pictures on the next page.
