Book Description By virtue of his previous four books on the subject, David Ray Griffin is widely recognized as one of the leading spokespersons of the 9/11 truth movement, which rejects the official conspiracy theory about 9/11. Although this movement was long ignored by the US government and the mainstream media, recent polls have shown that (as Time magazine has acknowledged) the rejection of the official theory has become "a mainstream political phenomenon." It is not surprising, therefore, that the government and the corporately controlled media have shifted tactics. No longer ignoring the 9/11 truth movement, they have released a flurry of stories and reports aimed at debunking it. In the present book, David Ray Griffin shows that these attempts can themselves be easily debunked. Besides demonstrating the pitiful failure of Debunking 9/11 Myths (published by Popular Mechanics and endorsed by Senator John McCain), Griffin riddles recent reports and stories put out by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the New York Times, Vanity Fair, and Time magazine as well as a new book by the chairmen of the 9/11 Commission. He also responds to criticisms of the 9/11 truth movement by left-leaning and Christian publications--which one might have expected to be supportive. Throughout these critiques, Griffin shows that the charge that is regularly leveled against critics of the official theory-that they employ irrational and unscientific methods to defend conclusions based on faith-actually applies more fully to those who defend the official theory. This book, by debunking the most prevalent attempts to refute the evidence cited by the 9/11 truth movement, shows that this movement's central claim-that 9/11 was an inside job-remains the only explanation that fits the facts.

How pathetic the posts that say this book and information is a sham. My guess would be they never read this or any of his other books. The truth is, these people can't face the truth. So be it. Their problem. It will come out in the end.
This and Mr Griffin's other books are superb by any standard! I've read them all. Even if you doubt this could be true, enlighten yourselves for a change and maybe it will cause you to think for yourself and not be sheeple!
Ahh, well. Here we go. June 23, 2008 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
So I will open my mouth and get beat up, so here we go. I will say right up front that I do not believe the US Government was involved. I believe that what is generally believed to have happened, did. I do not see sinister interior players plotting this sort of event with far-sighted goals involving imperialism and corporate greed. I have to say that if one believes that the current administration is as incompetent as generally regarded, then the chances of them pulling this sort of thing off is as far fetched as far fetched gets. However, I do believe there is a place for cynicism when considering the "official position" of anything, and this book uses that cynicism to delve into questions and inconsistencies in the official story. When you read this book, and read it's opposing views, it really comes down to who you believe. As I do not believe Popular Mechanics is a wholly owned organ for the government, and that they have a bit more expertise in the field, and that, yes, because I cannot imagine this administration could even begin to attempt to pull this off, so any argument that says they did is, to my thinking, fanciful, I cannot endorse the conclusions of this book. That said, there is a place for these books, just so long as they are viewed with the same cynical eye that they themselves cast upon others.
Sad...really, really sad. May 16, 2008 4 out of 20 found this review helpful
It's just so sad and pathetic that there are so many people that truly believe the United States was behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I don't know why they distrust the government so much, maybe a bad experience in their lives. But I can't figure out why people are content to be caught up in so much nonsense.
I tried very hard to read this book with an open mind, but I found that I could not finish the book. To me, it reads like one man's opinion on what he thinks happened and tries to push those opinions up with factual errors and hearsay.
I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will love this, it's right up their ally. But no one with a good head on their shoulders should get caught up in all of this.

On the morning of 9/11 I heard of the first plane hitting the tower while listening to NPR in the early morning hours near San Francisco. I woke our son and the three of us sat in bed watching this event unfold, wanting to know more. When the second plane hit, we knew this was some sort of attack, but as the information came in about terrorists with box-cutters, and no military response at the time from our Air Force, it was already hard to swallow as truth. The White House had the most to gain, and we already knew they had yearned to go to war with Iran and/or Iraq for several years, since signing onto a letter encouraging Clinton to do just that.
I've been a professional photographer most of my life, but was a structural engineer and architect before that and an Army draftee before that. Although I have been reluctant to adhere to some truth theory, I have been very curious, while putting most of my energy into protesting the Bush regime, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. So much to do, so little time.
Recently, after reading "The Commission" I bought a copy of David Ray Griffin's "Debunking 9/11 Debunking", determined to work my way through it. Griffin has gone into great detail to address numerous issues that have been presented in various media, our media generally supporting the "official story". I've seen TV shows where the architect even follows the official line, and have felt uneasy about this, even though it was run on PBS. The architect was not very convincing. Maybe he didn't buy it either?
Griffin includes other voices from the structural engineering field both here and abroad who dispute the official story and explain from an architectural engineer's position why the official 9/11 explanation does not jive with reality. The engineering explanations are something I have a feel for and appreciate. The entire 9/11 investigation should have been carried out from a neutral perspective using neutral experts, engineers and scientists. A "democracy" demands no less.
I'm beginning to see how the twin towers and building #7 could have been wired for demolition by a subcontractor who was told the purpose was to read seismic monitors positioned at certain structural locations for that future earthquake that occurs in Manhattan every several hundred years or some similar scientific research ruse. Once that was completed, another group, also ignorant of the true purpose could have set up monitoring/control computers in bldg #7, some room with a view. At some point, another contractor could place cabinets in the structural locations and secure them to the structural members, for monitoring seismic movement perhaps, but these would contain powerful demolition explosives.
Later, others would hook everything up and test the wiring circuitry, the triggering mechanism not engaged until later activated and controlled from Bldg. #7, ready to "rock and roll". Properly handled, few if any of well-paid techies would understand what they may have participated in. Probably they would have been Haliburton or Blackwater people, or something similar. If I can imagine this, and I'm no expert, it could probably have been done by professionals from the military who are trained in such tactics.
Perhaps the expenses are all accounted for in some funding request for the military under a code name. The I.G. could check that out. Follow the money.
