Product Description In his sensational international bestseller, the preeminent scientist and outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins delivers a hard-hitting, impassioned, but humorous rebuttal of religious belief. With rigor and wit, Dawkins eviscerates the arguments for religion and demonstrates the supreme improbability of the existence of a supreme being. He makes a compelling case that faith is not just irrational, but potentially deadly. In a preface written for the paperback edition, Dawkins responds to some of the controversies the book has incited. This brilliantly argued, provocative book challenges all of us to test our beliefs, no matter what beliefs we hold.

"The God Delusion" was an interesting read. Dawkins covered all the bases of his arguments...sometimes making the book seem very academic. Nonetheless, it's worth your investment.
Must read, but make your own conclusions please! May 19, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I really am a fan of Dr. Dawkins. The world needs a lot more people like him, people who keep the ideas of Carl Sagan to heart and live and learn by asking people to "show" them rather than tell them.
The book, if you're an intellectual free-thinker, will be much like him preaching to the choir. If you're 'smart' enough to understand and take away from what he's talking about then surely you'll enjoy it. If you're religious, perhaps not -- but hopefully you'll at least take a stab at it for perspective if nothing else. And as Amazon's moronic review of the book suggests, NO, it doesn't provide good enough proof that the world will be better off without religion. Surely, that's an easy thing to do, how could Dawkins overlook such a minute detail!?
The most beautiful perspective that you can see the world through is by using the lens of reason. The Earth, its people, and all of the things within it and beyond it are more beautiful with each and every discovery science makes and I do feel bad that this book doesn't communicate well with the opposition -- but then again, when people are willing to kill, shackle, and bound others for their beliefs, I doubt words, no matter how profound, will matter much.
I do get a bit peeved when our reality is labeled the "natural world" and the impossible and illogical gets called "supernatural" -- what's more fantastic than what we have before us!?
Read the book!
An excellent and very informative book by a great mind. May 19, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Read this book and dare to challenge yourself if your mind is still shackled and delusioned by religion. Read it if you are a non-believer and sharpen your mind even more. Mr. Dawkins is clearly one of the greatest minds of our time. I highly recommend the DVD, "The Root of All Evil" if this book has inspired you.

Mr. Dawkins writes in a manner that doesn't allow the reader to put the book down. Being a skeptical non-intellectual, I found myself ocasionally thinking that Mr. Dawkins may well be as rigid as many of the fundamentalists in our world. Still enjoyed the heck out of this one and can't wait to read more of his work!

Enlightening but difficult reading for bed time book, answers questions I have been asking myself for a lifetime.
