Product Description
Based on John Maxwell's best-selling title Developing the Leader Within You, Leading from the Lockers offers tweens the tools they need to develop as leaders before reaching high school or college. Leadership takes many forms, and today kids are assuming roles as leaders in school, on their sports teams, in church youth groups and as peer mentors. Leading from the Lockers covers the topics of influence, priorities, integrity, problem solving, self-discipline, and peer relationships. Color pages with vignette line drawings enchance the text and give books an up-to-the-minute look.

3 out of 5 stars Leadership does not always equal the strength of your faith   October 19, 2004

I was very excited to get this book for the president of my school's Student Council where I am the sponsor. When I received it, I flipped through it and was immediately taken aback by the continuous references to Jesus, God, and faith. I believe in God; that isn't the problem. The problem is: 1. I wanted to use this book as a teaching tool in a school. Separation of church and state, hello? and 2. I wouldn't have bought this book if, in the review or summary, there had been any mention of religion. This book was for a student, not a family member. Can all you teachers out there just imagine the impending lawsuits? So, if you want a book to show the relationship between leadership and Christainity, then this is definitely the book for you.

I have read this book and think it is a great resource for becoming a leader. If you buy this book you should also buy the teacher edition if you're doing this as a youth group.
