Book Description We have watched with fear as the dark clouds of radical Islam and terrorism have gathered. Religion and Christianity seem to lack the answers today's world needs. Or else they're broken. At a time when darkness and anarchy engulf our world and we've lost hold of the truth that prevents us from drifting away, best-selling author Charles Colson and Harold Fickett show us where we can stand. Not with man's solutions or innovations. But with the truths of Christianity that we've relied on for 2000 years to give us a clear view of the world and how we're meant to live in it. Many doubt that God has revealed himself in a way we can understand clearly. We are divided over what Christians believe. The belief that many religions stand alongside Christianity with equal footing has weakened our ability to embrace The Faith whose founder is Christ. Can absolute answers be found, in spite of the confusion, the ignorance, and diverse understandings of what truth is? Addressing the anguish of our times, in which the clash of civilizations has become ever more threatening, author Colson focuses on what Christians most need to know. He takes into account the public's skepticism of traditional religion, its drive to be spiritual without being religious, and the many voices within the church urging that believers "reinvent the brand." Right belief, or orthodoxy, consists in what God wants us to know so we can meet and follow him. Unless we understand what God has communicated, his invitation cannot transform us and our culture. When we embrace that belief, we find joy and create cultures that are life-giving for believers and unbelievers alike. The Faith presents what all Christians have believed across the ages. The book ends by considering how God's Great Story applies to our own historical circumstances and individual lives. The epic Christian themes, what God has revealed in Jesus Christ, describe our one true hope--the rock on which we can stand. This is a book for our troubled times and for decades to come, for Christians and non-Christians alike. It is the most important book Chuck Colson has ever written: a thought-provoking, soul-searching, and powerful manifesto of the great, historical central truths of Christianity that have sustained believers through the centuries. Brought to life with vivid, true stories, here is what Christianity is really about and why it is a religion of hope, redemption, and beauty.

Required Reading for Discipleship May 6, 2008 If there is a better analyist of the today's culture and the state of the church amidst declining spiritual morality, I would like to know of him or her. He is the Bill O'Reilly, Bernie Goldberg, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Ann Coulter, and Dennis Miller of Christian apologetics. He tells it like it is without excuse or compromise, and he says it succinctly, with courage of conviction.
If it sounds like I'm an avid Colson supporter, then you've quessed correctly. He never fails to challenge the intellect and one's worldview. He always backs up his positions with scriptural support and flavors his books with personal experiences and inspiring stories of individuals who have overcome tremendous adversities while finding the Lord and Savior of their lives.
In this current book, Colson traces the successes and failures of the Church( the body of believers in Christ ) and provides sensible remedies facing the difficult issues confronting anyone desirous of sharing the Gospel message to an ever increasing indifferent, secular world. He states unequivocably that " Orthodox Christianity alone among worldviews can provide a stop to the inertia through the renewal of the soul and the regeneration of people that transform cultures. "
This book should be required reading for both new converts and seasoned church leaders. Colson, probably more than anyone else, since he has spoken personally to thousands in and out of prison, knows the dangers being posed by peudo-intellects, philosophers, and therapeutic preachers who deny the very tenets of the Christin faith. Included in the Great Commission given by Jesus to his followers to evangelize the world is the understanding that all who put their trust in Him to " always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you, " ( I Peter 3:15 )
The Faith April 15, 2008 This book is really a must for every Christian. The truth of the Bible stands out very clearly. All those who are searching for an answer to life, should put this book on their prefered reading list.
This is the book I 've been looking for April 14, 2008 There are few Christian books on the market that unbelievers will read. This is the best book I've come across that clearly lays out the basics of the faith, is written in an intellectual style yet is dramatic and interesting and would hold the attention of an reader who is searching but turned off by Christianity. I couldn't put it down. God will use this book to draw many to Himself.
The bare basics April 13, 2008 This book was written beautifully. All elements included are an incredible aid to those searching for the basic foundations of the faith. The names, events and descriptions presented are helpful in giving a quick reference guide should the reader desire to learn more. This book not only reviewed in a very fresh light the basic doctrine and beliefs of the Christian faith. It presented the core basis of the faith with such crystal clear conviction that I for one was prompted to raise my voice with a loud "Amen" upon reading the triumph of the resurrection and what that means not only to Christians but to the human race. Recommended reading for the person whose faith is wavering to those who teach bible study. Great work.
The Faith by Charles Colson April 13, 2008 This is a very well written book. It may help you find Biblical truths to stand on, and give reason to stand on them. This is an excellent follow up read to John MacArthur's book The Truth War.
