Book Description A fascinating discovery in southern India has caught the attention of spiritual teachers from every tradition, leaders from around the world, and millions more. It is the phenomenon called the Oneness Blessing (also known as "deeksha" in the East), a powerful transfer of energy believed to elicit the realization of unitive consciousness. Awakening into Oneness: The Power of Blessing in the Evolution of Consciousness tells the remarkable story of this radical new gateway to personal and global transformation. Arjuna Ardagh shares dozens of firsthand accounts of the Oneness Blessing's life-changing effects on individuals from all over the world, from the mystical children who first experienced it nearly two decades ago to its continuing exploration at the Oneness University under the guidance of esteemed teachers Sri Bhagavan and his wife, Sri Amma. "The Blessing is something few will be able to ignore in the years ahead," Ardagh writes. "It has proven to be the fastest- growing spiritual development in living memory." Join him in this exciting investigation of: * The most common effects of the Oneness Blessing, from reduced mental chatter and heightened awareness to effortless peace and the cessation of unwanted habits * The five major criticisms aimed at the Oneness movement * Why anything, when fully experienced, can be recognized as pure joy and bliss * How the Oneness Blessing heals personal and professional relationships * Enlightenment as a specific threshold of neurological functioning What is it about the Oneness Blessing that has ignited the hearts of so many? You'll find the answer here, in Awakening into Oneness.

Life-changing July 11, 2008 This book excited me into the Oneness movement and I'm now receiving blessings weekly. I'm amazed at what a transformation this has had on my life. The weakness of the book, however, is in its lack of quantifiable data in supporting its claims. A lot of the people who are interviewed and their stories about their experiences with the oneness blessing (or "deeksha") are anonymous, because, the writer claims, they are afraid they will lose credibility if their identity is revealed. So how do we know the author hasn't invented these stories? Its second weakness is that the author does not make it clear that the oneness blessing should not be sought after with expectations of particular results. I kept getting the sense, while reading, that deeksha is a healing art. (A friend trained in giving the oneness blessing had to keep setting me straight.) While it's true that I personally have undergone a tremendous shift and have healed a lot from deeksha, this is not the goal when receiving it. Healing often happens as a result of the blessing. I fear people will read this book then seek deeksha expecting miracles. That's not the way to go about it.
I rate the book with four stars, though, because of the fact that it has truly changed my life and led me down an amazing path.
I hope this is true. January 26, 2008 I was impressed. I realize there are so many ways and paths afloat today to improve a persons life or bring about a transformation. But then there are so many different kinds of people and belief systems. This is one more. I pray it works for you.

As the people of the world struggle to live in PEACE, 'Awakening into Oneness' supports the need of each person to find PEACE within and share it with all. An excellent read. I've purchased several copies as gifts and shared my copy with numerous folks. Not religious. Spiritual awakening of the inborn grace. Highly recommend.

Fantastic book. Gives you a real picture of how the Deeksha came to be and where it is intended. A very worthwhile read.
More Oneness --yea! November 27, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are interested in the oneness of life, this book is for you. When I first heard of the "Oneness University" in India, I thought "How wonderful-- a university that is dedicated to teaching about the oneness of life. That is something we really need in this strife torn world." So I wanted find out more about it without traveling to India.
Fortunately, for all of us, Arjuna Ardagh went to the Oneness University to find out the story behind it. He interviewed lots of people, including the founders, Sri Bhagavan and his wife, Sri Amma, and many of the teachers at the university. He has given me a good idea of what the Oneness University teaches and the power of the oneness blessing in helping people of all faiths have experiences in oneness.
The oneness blessing goes beyond a person's intellectual understanding and any dogmatic beliefs. Arjuna gives many examples of how the oneness blessing has helped all kinds of people.
Arjuna covers the criticisms of the oneness university and he tries to maintain some objectivity, but it's obvious that he sees it as a good thing. Is it becoming a cult? Not according to Arjuna. He says that the founders actually want to go out of business by enabling millions of people to give the oneness blessing. We need more blessings and less cursings. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the Oneness University and the Oneness blessing.--Cliff Mikkelson, the Oneness GuyGospel of One, Letters of Aul
