| Customer Reviews:
Essential background reading May 2, 2008 This book is a clear, concise summary of work in the general field of microalgae through about 1994. As such, it is required reading for all those looking to use algae for biofuels or specialty nutrients, etc. Don't look for the latest information; that's not the purpose of this volume. It does however give a very thorough and solid base from which to build. The level of writing is appropriate for advanced undergraduates and above; unlike some authors, Becker has a sense of humor that is both surprising and delightful to find in a scientific text. For me, a non-biologist, this was exactly what I needed in my position as an officer of an algae-based biofuel company.
