Great Designs, Simple & Easy to follow, but one thing.... September 11, 2008 I enjoyed this book, I found quite a bit of projects that I will be adding to my to-do list so I didn't regret the buy. I don't have the money to pay a copying place to enlarge some patterns on the back, so in my attept to do it myself was somewhat okay. I was able to enlarge 3 pages in the books, but when it came to enlarging quilt patterns---it was nearly impossible--they were basic squares and rectangles and I wish she had written somewhere in the book the measurements. If you can get it copied for you--then get the book....there are a lot of great ideas and pretty cool projects.
A contemporary slant on a traditional craft May 2, 2008 I love this book. I have loved Denyse Schmidt's designs ever since she was profiled in Martha Stewart Living a few years ago. I couldn't resist buying her book. Her contemporary update of traditional patterns is fun and eye-pleasing. Many of the projects are quick, and I have already made the stuffed cat and the apron and oven mitt. The directions were easy to follow and the final products wonderful. In this world of mass produced items, aren't sewers and quilters lucky that they can create something of beauty, something original that they can give to others or keep to enjoy themselves?
SOO GREAT!! March 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first saw this book in a bookstore on my lunch break. I am an avid crafter and love to sew. I had recently decided to make quits for all of my nieces and my nephew, I have 5 of them, for Christmas. Problem was, I had never actually made a quit before. This book is so informative, I could hardly believe how much I learned. I am so glad I got this book' it is going to get me to through the summer all the way to Christmas and beyond!
Love the designs but enlarging patterns gets expensive March 21, 2008 Love the book and projects but it cost me $8 to enlarge one pattern at Kinkos...next time I will try to fit 2 or 3 more on the same copy
Replaced my lost copy because I couldn't live without it! March 8, 2008 This is one of my favorite quilting books, if not the favorite, and my original copy was lost in a recent move. I replaced it because I realized I didn't want to live without it! The designs are inspiring and the directions are easy to follow. I am relatively new to quilting and really enjoy creating fresh, modern designs. Books like these are so important to keeping crafts alive as they affirm a new aesthetic for younger crafters.
