4 out of 5 stars Another ASA 108 required reading   May 17, 2007

This book covers freighter collisions off shore and many other situations to learn from. Fun and fluent to read. There is a lot to learn from other peoples close calls and mistakes. There is a reason why this book is a ASA 108 (Offshore Passage making) required reading. I highly recommend it for offshore passage making. This book will end up on your boat for frequent review of informative and fun to read situations at sea.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Book   April 16, 2005
10 out of 10 found this review helpful

This is an outstanding book. It contains many fascinating stories of shipwrecks, striking boats, and contains any information you would ever need to survive a disaster at sea. It talks about how not to get hit by supertankers, what to do on a desert island, types of flares, etc. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs it for practical reasons, as well as for entertainment to those who don't.
