Book Description
Bowhunters will take their skills to the next level with this

comprehensive book, filled with expert tips and strategies for

a successful hunt. This updated edition features new photos,

anecdotes, strategies and more! Chapters explore the history

of bowhunting and discuss the latest must-have equipment and

accessories, updated studies, and innovative techniques.

The book begins with a background on bowhunting as a sport,

and goes through the basics of choosing the right bow

(including an all-new feature on lighter bows for women or

younger hunters). A discussion on the differences between

wood, composite, and metal shafts includes photos of all

arrows currently on the market, and another chapter takes a

look at the history of broadhead evolution and today?s

available options. Other chapters cover camouflage, cover

scents, tuning bows, tree stands, tracking techniques, and much

more. The handbook outlines the three hunting methods ?

stalking, stand, and still hunting ? for the most popular species

of North American game, and includes a directory of

manufacturers and distributors.

4 out of 5 stars An eyeopener   March 30, 2000

Coming from England where bow hunting is illegal, this book was an eye opener to me. The book deals with all types of statergies involved in bow hunting, from concealment to stalking, equipment and camoflage, watching and calling. Each huntable four legged game is shown and analysed by its size, habitat and habits. They detail the senses of each species whether they rely primarily on sight, hearing or smell. Tactics and techniques are discussed after a short description of each animal hunted. Being from England I felt a little sad at the thought of trophy hunting such beasts, so did the authors, although they had experienced the hunt too. The book is very saftey concious through out and tries to put over the right and wrong ways to preserve the sport in the public eyes. Although I said the book turned me soft the whole approach was realistic and to any bow hunter anywhere it must be read for the drops of intelligence and understanding of your sport.
