Product Description
Here is the perfect book for beginning riders who are using muscles they never knew they had before, advanced riders who want to stay in top form (especially as they get older), and weather-bound riders who can't get out during the winter but want to be fit when spring arrives.

The Rider's Fitness Program details a fun and effective six-week program that strengthens the muscles riders use while improving overall balance, flexibility, and coordination. The book features more than 85 exercises designed to help new riders get over the aches and pains of getting started and experienced riders hone their skills and technique and prevent injuries. The ultimate goal, of course, is to achieve "oneness" with the horse.

The routines are flexible, so individuals can customize the workout they need for jumping, dressage, reining, endurance, polo, or rodeo. The exercises are accompanied by step-by-step photographs that demonstrate how to perform each action properly (with an emphasis on safety). The exercises are progressive, from basic to advanced, and suitable for riders at all fitness levels.

The authors also include fundamental information on diet, general health and safety, and what clothing and equipment are necessary.

The Rider's Fitness Program is a comprehensive handbook for riders of all experience levels, with workout routines for every type of riding discipline.

4 out of 5 stars Riders Fitness Program   September 30, 2008
This is an interesting book with loads of excersizes but a bit too many gadgets are involved. In order to follow the program it means buying alot of equipment if you do not have a well stocked gym at your home. Take this into consideration when purchasing the book. The time that it would take to go through all the warm up excersizes as well as the actual programmed excersizes is considerable. I took what I could from the book but I have a full time job LOL.
Reasonably well written and most the time the excersizes are well described.

5 out of 5 stars Great workout   August 24, 2008
I very much like the varied workouts from this book. They are easy to complete at home and have helped me improve not only my riding, but my skiing, too!

5 out of 5 stars A real comprehensive fitness program for riders   May 6, 2008
Most of the riding fitness books I've seen have been very basic and rather generic. This is a real comprehensive weight training program targeted at equestrian athletes. You will need access to gym equipment to carry it out, however. I really appreciate seeing riders treated as the genuine athletes they are!

4 out of 5 stars It's good   July 30, 2007

Has some good exercises that you can perform without going to the gym. However it does rely heavily on a lot of high end gym equipment. Still worth while to help build muscle and help increase flexibility.

5 out of 5 stars good for others then just riders   March 15, 2007

The exercises in this book are very good for a rider but also for the non rider as focus on balance and the core of your body. Easy to follow and explained well.
