Product Description
Top Dawg is the inside story of how Georgia Football returned to dominate the SEC with new life and new fire.

Mediocrity followed the Georgia Bulldogs for two decades after the departure of Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker. Meanwhile, a bright young leader was learning his craft just over the Florida line. Top Dawg is a story of tradition and of a tactician and how when the two converged the result was the emergence of the Georgia football program as one of the nation's top programs. After a powerful 2007 season, capped by a Sugar Bowl victory, Georgia is slated to start the 2008 season ranked in the top five. Top Dawg is the story of Georgia's return to glory with input from the players, coaches, and insiders. Filled with highlights, important games, the behind-the-scenes stories, Top Dawg will be a must read for every Georgia fan.

5 out of 5 stars An excelent read!   October 3, 2008
Rob Suggs has crafted an excellent book about the paths Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs have traveled over the last 30 years. Top Dawg will hold an honored space on my bookshelf right next to Glory! Glory! and Clean Old Fashioned Hate. This is a must read for all of Bulldog Nation. I'd also recommend purchasing extra copies to give as Christmas gifts for Tech neighbors and coworkers, that they might see the error of their ways (or if nothing else have yet another reminder of 7 in a row and 51-7).

4 out of 5 stars Top Dawgs tells the full story!   September 17, 2008

I just got up from reading "Top Dawgs" by Rob Suggs. I was given a copy to review so here it goes. By the way ,Craig from Commerce won the additional copy. This book brought back the memories from the past few years of Georgia football under Mark Richt. I had forgotten how bad of shape the program was in before Richt got to Athens. They even had in state recruits clownig them on their way to Tennesse. I did not realize how popular Ray Goff was in the beginning of his tenure as Head Coach. All I remember was people calling for his head at the end! I really learning about Richt's early career and how he came to be a Head Coach rather than an NFL QB. I call it like I see it & I see this as a really good book that will be enjoyed by any Dawg fan. Also any college football fan will appreciate the book.

5 out of 5 stars A great story of the right man for the right program   September 12, 2008

Rob Suggs' central theme - that the right man came to Georgia football at the right time - is demonstrated ably in this well-written and timely book. This isn't just a rehash of Georgia football and Mark Richt. The author talks about his own personal anecdotes briefly in an introduction, which should ring true with Dawg fans, but he follows with very interesting parallels between the fall and rise of Georgia football following the Herschel Walker years, and the eerily corresponding fall and rise of Mark Richt's personal life and career.

I don't want to write too many details, but I'll say that ours is a lucky fanbase. We had a Lewis Grizzard writing for us. We have had a Jack Davis drawing for us. Now, we have another gifted professional bringing us a book that he's written as both professional and fan. It's one we all wish we could write. If you're a Georgia Bulldog, this book needs to be on your shelf.

5 out of 5 stars BEST UGA FOOTBALL BOOK!   September 9, 2008

Great story of the history of UGA football during the Mark Richt era. Not only a story of great football, but a story of creating good men.

5 out of 5 stars Great Writer Writing About a Great Man!   September 4, 2008

The ideal combination - a wonderful storyteller in Rob Suggs telling a wonderful story - the rejuvenation of Georgia's football program under Mark Richt. As a football fan I was naturally drawn to this book, but it is more than just a football story - it is the story of one man's odyssey from his (occasionally misspent) youth to his - sorry to use an old cliche - rendezvous with destiny in Athens, GA. No one but Suggs could tell the story so well!
