This book is a great way to get the converation going October 16, 2008 I was well pleased with this book. It's a great way to introduce new things that will come along with a new baby. It covered those things (more of the positive than the negative) that the big sister will face in a very simple and brief way. I know some disagreed with the baby drinking from a bottle instead talking about breastfeeding and other things that they would do differently than what the book laid out. But to me, that's ok. Just talk about the way your family will do things. This book isn't going to be the ONLY way that you will teach your daughter about your growing family. Think of it as a supplement, a way to get the conversation going and the questions asked. And, if you are concerned about some of the less pleasant changes that may come, there are other books that discuss those topics. I plan to look into those kinds of books as I see those issues arise.
Great, Positive Book to Prepare a Toddler for a Baby September 12, 2008 We received this book as a gift, and it is the best "baby on the way" book we have read. My daughter (almost 3) loves it, asks for it all the time, and has pretty much memorized it now.
My friend's little girl who is the same age, and also expecting a little brother, loves it too.
It's nice how it emphasizes how the big sister can help, and how she is still special to mommy and daddy.
Simple enough for a very small child to understand, and very positive. I just wish it showed breastfeeding as well as a bottle.
"I'm a Big Sister" September 1, 2008 This book was smaller in size than I thought it would be, but other than that, what I expected.
Excellent book - my daughter still likes it 2 years later July 11, 2008 I bought this for my 17 month old toddler and she loved it and read it before and after the baby was born. I suggest this book to everyone I know who is having another child. My daughter still likes to read this book and my son is now 2 years old.
Sweet and Perfect for my 2-Year-Old July 1, 2008 My baby is due in five weeks and we've been reading this to my two year old for a few months. She loves the book and now finishes sentences while I'm reading it. Its simple, not too descriptive, and is getting her excited to be a "Big Sisser"...as she calls herself now. We use our names in addition to Mommy, Daddy, and Big Sister, to relate it more to us.
