Very useful January 1, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you have lot of time to read, yes, this book is a MUST. But if you have 40 exams plus practices plus meetings plus, plus, plus.....Kuby is a good option. Anyway, never trust only in a single book. Ana Laura Fazio MSc. Immunology
HORRIBLE CD UPGRADE December 3, 2004 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
No offense to William Paul and the Authors of this book, but the CD is unusable unless you allow it access to the internet to review your searches!!!! (In either Windows ME or Windows XP)
A complete invasion of privacy.
Fundamental Immunology IV did not have that problem!
(Microsoft Word is having new problems like this with their Windows XP professional as well! It did not have those problems with ME - Hum?)
excellent May 20, 2004 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
the next best thing to actually following the literature. a great way to get a background in a less familiar topic.
Fundamental, not necessarily introductory January 16, 2001 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This book is in many respects the Immunology equivalent of the G&G pharmacology bible. Or in other words: if you do Immunology for a living, this book should always be within reach. Just like G&G's book, Fundamental Immunology started out in the same way the "encyclopedia" started in the Age of Enlightment: a compendium of all the knowledge available. With the exponential expansion of both Pharmacology and Immunology, these disciplines no longer fit in one, ten, or even a hundred volumes each, and tough choices have to be made. In Paul's FI, these choices are very much geared towards the professional, and far less so to the student. Yet, many of the subjects are treated in a way that not only incorperates much of the up to date details, but also gives thorough treatment of the fundamental concepts behind them. Thus, this book should also be the text of choice for those students that have sufficient tutoring resources available to guide them through the maze of the wild and wonderful world of Immunology.
It can be used as a dictionary. February 10, 1999 4 out of 14 found this review helpful
It is not recommended as a text book, but is as a dictionary. Because it contains many informations about immunology and few illastlations.
