Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

Introduction to Sports Biomechanics introduces the core biomechanics topics covered in the first two years of a sports science degree. It provides sound grounding in theoretical and practical aspects of human movement analysis.

2E is completely revised with content designed to suit student learning in the notoriously 'difficult' field of biomechanics. Totally restructured and redesigned to make it more user-friendly, the book covers:

  • how to describe and analyse human movement
  • introduction to forces and fluid dynamics in movement
  • how to measure force
  • human anatomy and how muscles work - activation, action and power.

This new edition is supported by a website containing animation and video clips to demonstrate the motion as described in the text, and features sample data tables for comparison and analysis.

This text is a must have for students of human movement sciences, ergonomics, biomechanics and sports performance/coaching.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars sports biomechanics   February 26, 2006
I purchased this book for my uni course to help with the challenging physics/maths you have to struggle with in sports biomechanics. Eventhough it is pretty technical it helps explain some of the simpler and more difficult components of the course, so worth purchasing if you need a text book. Its also recommended by the lecturers on my course!!
