lynch at his creepiest October 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first, I had my reservations about buying an LSAT book written by David Lynch. Lynch, who studied painting in college and went to film school thereafter, has no qualifications to offer prospective law students stategies for taking the LSAT. Moreover, works like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and the psychological thriller Lost Highway seem like products of a mind disinterested in the nuances of the American legal system. In many of Lynch's films, the subjective experiences of the characters become the focus of the narrative, and greater social and legal concerns fade into the background. Even figures who ostensibly represent the Law succumb to mystic, extralegal forces. FBI Agent Cooper, central character of the show Twin Peaks, conducts his investigation of the death of Laura Palmer by conversing with giants, consulting with owls, and taking the advice of a woman who speaks to a log. Where would America be today if citizens sought legal advice from logs? But alas, Lynch never claimed to be an expert on law. Rather, his book focuses on the LSAT, and it is this test's flagrant flouting of jurisprudence that makes Lynch the perfect authority on the subject. Example: Three women, two men, and a midget convene around a hexagonal table for afternoon tea. Two of the women are sitting next to each other, and each woman is wearing a yellow corsage. The men are across from each other - one wears a pince-nez and the other is covering his ears and screaming. The midget is wearing a stripped tuxedo, and the sixth chair is empty. All of the following are possible table arrangements EXCEPT. Before reading Lynch's book I could never answer this question. Now I dream the answer every night.
Perfect for serious LSAT study February 7, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this after getting really frustrated with the kaplan book. This package has a couple of great features. It has complete books for all three sections, which means it's way more thorough than an all-in-one book. Some people like power score, but they have one glaring omission - no Reading Comp book! Not to mention that this package is cheaper than buying all the PS books.
Anyway, the best part about this is that it really makes a lot of sense and has tons of examples. I liked the timed quizzes on each topic. These books skip the gimmicky tricks that don't really work anyway and focus on pure understanding of how the test works. I think they really get it right. After buying this and some past official tests, my scores on practice tests improved by about 12 points.

Very thorough and detailed review! I've read through pretty much every LSAT prep book and I would say that these are even better than PowerScore books. They cover details and distinctions that no other LSAT book does. Obviously the Official LSAT tests are necessary, but when it comes to actually analyzing the question types and methodology, I would say these books are likewise necessary!
