Product Description The life and career of Reggie White is remembered in this new book, Reggie White: A Celebration of Life, 1961- 2004. Fans can look back through the career of the "Minister of Defense" from his early days with the Philadelphia Eagles, to his glory days with the Green Bay Packers, to his retirement and untimely death in December, 2004. Reggie White had a football career that will certainly place him among the all-time greatest defensive ends in NFL history. He was also the NFL's all-time sack leader at the time of his retirement in 2000. More than just a football player, Reggie White was an ordained minister and worked in developing programs for urban youth. Remeber Reggie White in this commemorative book.

Uneven, Poorly Edited, Yet Still Enjoyable November 7, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is very uneven as a biography. It is about 127 pages long. It is mostly a book of photos. What is here is enjoyable, but there is a lot missing about his life.
There seems to be no author. You get a brief synopsis of major events in his life, from birth to death, in about 5 pages. Then most of the chapters are reprinted articles with the dates and authors named, mostly sports writers of the times, I suppose.
The coverage is uneven, only a few pages about college with no photos of Reggie; 8 pages about the Philadelphia Eagles era of his life; the largest era covered is with the Green Bay Packers, about 70 pages; then 12 pages with Reggie and the Carolina Panthers; ending with about 20 pages covering his untimely death.
There are over 60 decent photos of Reggie, most being half page sized, or full page sized. Some photos are two page size, others are small photos. There's too many other photos of fans and such, which I think are a waste of space. Only the photo of his father after a public visitation after Reggie's death is interesting, of the photos without Reggie in them.
There are lots of quotes, in large text, sprinkled throughout the book, mostly from famous or prominent people in Reggie's life, but a few too many are generic, anonymous internet fan quotes, of which only one I found interesting:
"My favorite Reggie moment was during the run for the Super Bowl, at the home games they had a clip of Reggie singing 'AMAZING GRACE,' and how that short clip made the whole stadium stop, listen, and sing along, and afterwards we wanted to see Reggie drop another quarterback."--internet fan quote
This is my first book about Reggie White that I have bought and read. I will continue to get the few other books about him, some actually written by Reggie himself. This book is worth having for any Reggie White fan, but you will probably find it to be uneven, just as I have. Having said that, if you are still interested, then the book is worth the price on amazon.com.
God Bless Reggie White, the Minister of Defense!
