Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Who were the greatest warriors of all time? This book profiles 50, including Myamoto Musashi, Jim Bowie and Geronimo, who faced overwhelming odds, survived terrible wounds, pulled off hairbreadth escapes and piled enemies in heaps. Their stories read like fiction but are all the more riveting because they are true.

4 out of 5 stars Bite-size History   April 30, 2008
I am a little over halfway through this book and have to say it is quite entertaining. It certainly does not detail every aspect of each person's life, but gives an action packed synopsis of the exciting events that make the people memorable. I would not buy this if one is looking for an in-depth account of their lives, but would certainly recommend it for anyone who enjoys adventure and reading about truly amazing real life feats of heroism.

5 out of 5 stars Great Story Telling   April 28, 2008
Kirchner does an excellent job of telling the stories behind the world's deadliest combatants. Although some of the names were unfamiliar to me, all of them were exciting to read about.

This was my first introduction to the story of Lance Thomas, the California jeweler who survived five armed robberies. Many of the robbers cannot make the same claim. A quote from Mr. Thomas sums up the mindset of many of the men and women in this book - Q: "How could you keep shooting - fighting back - with a bullet wound in the neck and three bullets in the shoulder?" A: "They hadn't killed me yet and I handn't run out of ammunition."

Great book. Only drawback was it wasn't longer and didn't include many contemporary names. More law enforcement/military names would have been a great addition, i.e. Bill Jordan, William Fairbairn, Eric Sykes, Rex Applegate, etc... Perhaps he will come out with a Version #2 someday.

The brisk narrative style and descriptive story telling ability of Paul Kirchner makes for an adventurous read! I was also VERY happy that it was filled with lesser known people and incidents.

Hopefully there is a "BOOK II" ???!!!

5 out of 5 stars Deadliest men   November 10, 2006

This book is very informative and accurate about histories most deadly men and women. Some of the people in this book might surprise you such as baseball great Ty Cobb and Winston Churchill others will not. Originally selling in Paldin Press for 25.00 the price at Amazon is a bargain and is a good reference book for anyone interested in the history of the art of fighting I highly recomend it.
