Product Description
The beauty of this book is that it does not contain only the basic short-game strokes, but Jim McLean teaches you how to hit trouble shots. How to fix faults in your technique, control distance, practice right, sink long and short curving putts, and much more. This book thoroughly explains the "how-to" essentials of most any short game plays. It also includes dozens of photographs and illustrations to guide the reader.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars A good book for learners   January 2, 2008

Not too bad - for a novice I suppose quite good (I'm on a 9 but have been as low as 4 over 30 years' ago) - but I feel contents need rearranging to keep like subjects together (a bit disjointed). Also would have liked more detail on certain shots. However I picked up a couple of good tips and hope to apply them on the course.

5 out of 5 stars Improving your Mom's game   September 8, 2003

I gave this book to my mom who is a senior golfer playing in the high 90's. In one month, she reduced her handicap by 9 strokes after reading this book. This is true, as I can see it in her smile. That's only about $2 per stroke - good book investment. Now she has her whole gang at the country club reading the book and trying to catch her score.

Excellent book descriptions on various techniques used to cut strokes from your game.

4 out of 5 stars Solid   June 25, 2001

A very solid book on all aspects of the short game by one of the top rated PGA instructors. Includes practice routines and drills, equipment needed, course management, grip, distance control, shots for every situation(rough, sand, backspin, chipping, and even a little on putting and much more), as well as a list of golf schools if you REALLY need help. Even lists who and what to watch for when watching golf on TV. I love "Idiot's" books for reference, this one included, for their great indexing and detailed contents pages that let you go directly to a section without reading the whole book if you are looking for an instant solution to one particular problem. I would also recommend Dave Pelz's great book.
