Product Description
The most comprehensive text ever written on how and why to train for MMA and other fighting sports. This book covers every aspect of training, how to apply it and how to make a program work for you. This is one of the most complete books ever written; Martin Rooney leaves nothing to chance on how to train and how to win. This book is essential for all fighters but also can help any athlete or coach that is looking for any advantage on learning how athletes train. Loaded with extreme pictures and incredible detail, Training for Warriors is one of the best books ever written for athletes.

This long awaited text is the definitive training system of the Team Renzo Gracie fighting team. Over four years in the making, this 200 page book contains the secrets of warming up, weight training, endurance training, mental training, nutrition, weight cutting, and strategy development that the top combat athletes in the world use to win Pride Fighting, UFC, UCC, and ADCC championships. If you are a grappler, wrestler, mma fighter, boxer, judoka, or just a fan of combat sports, this book is a must have.

Just the 150 rare training photos and never before seen exercises alone are worth the decision to select this book.

1 out of 5 stars Where's the Beef?   May 1, 2007

Much looking forward to viewing this book, however, I was extremely disappointed. There was a lack of photos that showed how to do the exercises from start to finish. Too much info about the author and the Gracies, very little information about the workouts. I am sending this book back for a refund and because there is no option for "0" stars I had to rate it a "1".

4 out of 5 stars Buy together with the book   November 6, 2006
Please see my review of the book. On its own, the book gets 3 stars and the DVD gets 4, but togeters, I give them 4 1/2 stars.

Greetings

5 out of 5 stars The Best MMA training around   April 28, 2006

My name is Adam Singer and I run a very sucessful gym in Athens GA. Maybe you know some of my fighters, Forrest Griffin (TUF 1 champ) and Rory Singer (TUF 3 star). I collect and read everything I can on strenght and conditioning. However until this book no expert had written specifically for MMA athletes. The first importatant thing to note is that everything in this book has been tested on MMA/BJJ athletes of the highest levels. What this book contains is a huge overview of every aspect of MMA training, mental, wieghts, strategy, nutrition, warmups, cutting wieght, lifting, cardio, core training etc etc etc. Is it a weekly program that one can follow? No. How could it be. The cookie cutter apraoch does not work with athletes. COnsider this a tool box that will allow you to work with yourself or your althetes to become the best they can be. For the individual that was upset about not having exercise descriptions....Why should Rooney waste time with things that have been covered in 100s of different places.

This is the first time I have reviewed a book on amazon. I have had this book from the first day I found it. I am writing a review now because I wanted to refute a couple negative reviews. I look at this book on a weekly basis and always find somehting new.

5 out of 5 stars If you want to win   April 23, 2006
I have been training in martial arts for 19 years. I started competing at 19. I hold two black belts and have fight experience ranging from tai, kickboxing, boxing, mma, and bbj. Once I read this book, it gave me a clear cut guide on what to do mentaly and physically. Martin spells out the things you need to be a champ. I refrence the book all the time and currently are using to improve my mma and boxing. If you are openminded and want to win buy this book!!!

5 out of 5 stars A must have for people looking to transform their approach to competition   April 22, 2006
Having over fifteen years of experience in the martial arts and nine years of experience in the field of strength and conditioning, "Training for Warriors" by Martin Rooney is a comprehensive guide on how to become a true warrior in realm of competition. This book adds to Martin's body of other training manuals and DVDs. The lessons learned from this manual and his other works are all interchangeable.
Martin's message is made clear to the reader in three ways. Firstly, the language used to communicate is simple and effective. Secondly, the material is able to be applied to different areas of performance enhancement. Lastly, Martin is clearly a "practice what you preach" practitioner. The reader will immediately know that Martin has been personally in the battle in which he is preparing you for.
I have recommended this book to many strength coaches and martial arts instructors, and I will continually recommend it to anyone who truly has the desire to become a warrior!
