Great Gift April 28, 2008 I bought this book for my 14 year old niece. She loves it and is practicing new "dos" daily! I looked through it quickly. Looks to be easy reading with detailed illustrations. I look to be purchasing one for myself in the very near future!
Best Hair Book Really Shows How-To's March 27, 2008 my daughter has long hair and has been begging me for a book of how-to's for hair. i've bought cute little books here and there and thought this book looked a little old fashion for her teenage self. but i got it anyway. she's had it since christmas and she LOVES it. mom is happy, too. my daughter has been experimenting with her older sister's hair and younger sister's hair, too. i love seeing her creations knowing she's getting them from the book. we're very satisfied and happy with this.
Good book, but time consuming (or plain impossible) for long hair. March 10, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The pictures are good and the instructions are well written and (theoretically, anyway) easy to follow. However, for anyone with true long hair -- classic length or below -- nearly all of the hair styles presented will take far more time than most people want to spend in the morning. Trying to keep different sections from tangling up or mirror braiding/twisting themselves near the bottom is hard enough with the simple braids, but with the more complex ones, it gets headache-worthy. Some of the styles are just impossible to do by yourself at all when your hair is significantly longer than your arm reach.
This is probably an excellent book for people with medium length hair (shoulder to middle of the back), but for those of us with long hair, it's simply okay. Nice to look at but not practical for everyday styling.
braiding book February 26, 2008 I am not an expert stylist of hair and this book's simple instructions gave me hope that it could indeed be done. I liked it.
Easy to follow hair instructions February 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this book for our 12 year old daughter for Christmas. She loves it and has been trying many of the different hairstyles shown in the book. The instructions are step by step, with pictures, and they are easy to follow and equally easy to do. We haven't tried them all, but the ones we have tried have been successful and very pretty. It includes instructions for everyday hair styles to very elegant ones, and it comes with three scrunchies to finsih off many of the looks. I would recommend this book.
