Product Description At forty-seven, David Wood sold everything he owned and set out to fulfill every golfers dream: For one year, he traveled the world (covering sixty thousand miles and every continent except Antarctica) by plane, boat, train, motorcycle, and rickshaw, to play the game he loves in the most exotic locales, including the worlds highest, driest, hottest, coldest, and most remote golf courses, and lived to tell the tale.
Along the way, he met a bevy of fascinating characters, including surly cabbies, taxi drivers with a death wish, welcoming golf-course managers, threatening kangaroos, and golf pros out for a quick game. David faced dire situations, such as bouts of food poisoning in India and Egypt, altitude sickness in Argentina, getting booted out of the Ukraine by armed guards, and muddling about with limited language skills. But through it all he maintained a sense of humor and, of course, his passion for golf, which he played every chance he got.

Funny Stories around the world April 1, 2008 This book is a must for anyone who has traveled or yearns to travel and plays golf. The stories are hilarious and make you ready to hop on a plane with your clubs and try out some crazy courses. I'm planning on purchasing a few copies for friends and family.
Golf, Travel, and Serendipity April 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Two of my loves in life are golf and travel. I've done a bit myself, but to more "typical" golf destinations (Scotland, Ireland, etc.). I never even thought about the possibility of golf in Uruguay or Egypt. Why would anyone?
After reading this book, I'm glad someone did think of it. David did a wonderful job of mixing the golf with day-to-day life involved in world travel. Not too much of one or the other, and always with a interesting/funny viewpoint. Golf with no grass? Who knew?!?
Read the book. It's great for golfers and for people that put up with golfers!
