Product Description
You can run from the grave, but you can't hide . . . Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind. Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Better than book 1! July 24, 2008 This novel was even better than book 1 in the series. Ireally became involved with characters on an emotional basis. Looking forward to book 3 in the series.
And the hunter becomes the hunted July 21, 2008 After the bloodbath involving some evil governor and truly wicked vampires, Catherine Crawfield bade goodbye to her human life. Coerced by the government to join the special unit that hunts down all things paranormal, Special Agent Crawfield continues her work ridding the world of the undead. And as she continues to leave slain vampires in her wake, she has become the fabled Red Reaper - the vampire bogeyman. Now someone wants to stop her at all cost and there is a hefty price on her head. All of a sudden, the night huntress has become the hunted. What's a girl to do when she knows that her only hope could be the very person (er...vampire) that she left behind?
Yes, dear readers, old feelings will be reignited and new dangers will be thrown in Cat's path. I knew this and expected this. After all, the ending of Halfway to the Grave deliciously suggested this. Indeed, as I finished reading the first book, I was eager to see what happens to Cat after she became a Special Agent and what her reunion would Bones be like. Consequently, I devoured this book in two sittings because I simply had to find out. I will not go through the details for fear of spoiling the whole plot for other readers, but I can assure you that I was delighted by this second installment although not quite as rapt as I was with the first one. I guess my biggest gripe was that we didn't really get to see the early stages of Cat's life as an Agent and the lack of development with the secondary characters, but heck I had such fun reading this book that I can overlook this! Jeaniene Frost provides a fantastic spin on the vampires and ghouls that she creates in her own world of make-believe. ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE is quick-paced and filled with witticism. Frost injects some romance and sex that is written well-enough to avoid being categorised as smut. The ending hints at further conflict that our heroine will face in the future. And the reader waits to see what Frost has in store for our fabulous half-breed.
definitely worth a look July 19, 2008 I quite enjoyed the second installment in the night huntress series. Normally i am not a fan of books written in the first person, especially in this genre. However i was pleasantly surprised by the first book in the series (plus I had bought it not knowing it was written in the first person)and the second OFITG also exceeded expectations. It takes a while to get going and the idea that Bones (the protagonist's love interest) took so long in tracking her down, especially with his master vampire skills, seems incongruent with his character. The author however skilfully manages to blend the fantastic(vampires, ghouls, secret government organisations etc)into a compelling storyline which captures the reader's attention. The introduction of a new character towards the end of the book plus the resurrection of an old friend neatly sets the scene for the next book in this series. If you're a fan of Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark series or J.R. Ward series you may enjoy this. It's not as intense as J.R Ward but it's nice to see a heroine who can take care of herself and is not a complete slave to her emotions. I must admit I enjoyed the first book in the series more than the second but I'll still buy the third. In all, it was kind of a refreshing story and both books are definitely worth a read.
Fantastic Series July 13, 2008 This is a top of the line action packed urban fantasy. I have only one thing to say to Ms. Frost - write faster.
Oh Yeah! Great Second Book July 12, 2008 NOTHING predictable about this second in the series! Cat and Bones get back together, but in the most unpredictable way! Other reviewers have summarized the story so I won't. As I said in a review of the first book, I love these characters! Bones is now one of my favorite alpha male vampire heros. He is scorcing hot. One of the best erotic hot love scenes in the genre is in this book. Cat is one of the best strong females in the genre. As previously stated in my review of the first book, all of the characters, the good, the bad and the ugly have surprising depth and grow with the story from book 1 to this book. Humor, sex, action, mystery, sex, love, betrayal,REALLY hot sex, and a sterling cast of characters, really well written characters. As stated in my review of the first book, I just galdly tossed the series by J.R. Ward, in the trash bin of "What was she thinking" when she went off the rails she had laid in her first 4 books. I am so delighted to have been led to this Night Huntress series! Jeaniene Frost is now on my "Pre Order" list with Alex Ivy, Lara Adrian, Jacki Frank and Christine Feehan. These are "THE' best "goes with the story" book covers I've ever seen.
