5 out of 5 stars Thank God this book exists!   August 22, 2008

Okay, this book has made me look so much younger! It gives you all these amazing facial exercises that truly make you look like you have had a facelift. My eyes look like I had an eye lift, my cheekbones are higher and my lips plumper. People are shocked when I tell them how old I am, and it is truly due to Facercise. The exrcises are super quick and you see results very quickly as well. Get this book now and you will not regret it!

4 out of 5 stars Find it difficult to understand/execute some of these exercises...   August 17, 2008

First and foremost, I love the premise of this book. Going on 40, I really want to be able to reverse the signs of aging without any surgical "intervention". I was going to wait a while to review the book, after I'd had a good month or so to do the exercises and recognize any evident efficacy. However, I have one issue with this book that seems to beg an earlier initial review.

Based on the instructions and pictures offered in the book, I find numerous exercises hard to understand and execute. I feel that either more pictures should be provided or the instructions should be explainted more clearly. This work requires not only an extremely accute imagination, but the ability to interpret rather obscure pictures in a very concise manner. I find some of the exercises to be quite difficult to comprehend. I thought about this quite a bit before commenting on it...I considered whether or not I'm just completely incapable of whatever it takes to put "A" to "B" and finally came to the conclusion that the presentation needs improvement. There are only two pictures, basically, to illustrate each exercise--and the exercises require several steps each. I find this wholly inadequate. I suspect that, because of this, a DVD presentation of the information would better serve the user.

All in all, however, I give this 4 stars because I believe that the idea and information provided in this book has great merit. Still, I DO wish I'd opted for the DVD rather than the book, as I suspect it would be easier to follow.

2 out of 5 stars not my favorite   August 17, 2008

I read this book after reading "Face Lifting by Exercise" by Senta Maria Runge. I'm not impressed. The "driving" facial exercises listed are both dangerous to do while driving (placing fingers around your eyes and squinting or looking up) and really just duplicates from the previous pages (nothing new or redesigned). I also found the descriptions on how to specifically move the muscles incomplete compared to Senta Maria's book. I wouldn't recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Facercse meets Argentine Tango   August 14, 2008

Subject: FACERCISE meets Argentine tango...

Our international dance company, Dance of the Heart, places my husband and me in the spotlight as performers and instructors of the very sensual, passionate dance of Argentine tango. We teach and perform locally at our home base in Boulder, Colorado and at the many tango communities springing up in major cities across the globe, including bi-annual bookings in northern Europe and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Because it is NOT an option to combat signs of aging with surgery (philosophically OR financially), my husband introduced me to Carole Maggio's FACERCISE book years ago. With his encouragement, I researched this carefully and found myself at Carole's website where I purchased the FACERCISE programs on dvd and cd.

I recently celebrated my 48th birthday and my husband just turned 55. Friends, family and clients continue raving to both of us about our `youthful' appearances. We know this is due to the combination of FACERCISE integrated into our dance-filled lives.

Carole's innovative, practical and simple approach to isometrics for the face is delivered through her book and her dvd with easy, clear instructions, smart reminders and excellent technique that takes only minutes each day to execute.

The results are remarkable. Speaking only for myself (though I know my husband shares my feelings), I now have tremendous confidence in my appearance no matter where I am in the world; on a stage, in a classroom, out to dinner with friends, wherever, so don't wait!!!

With gratitude,

Deb Sclar (& Brian Dunn)

5 out of 5 stars Facercises really work   July 25, 2008

I'm commenting on the facercise program (the exercises) and not necessarily the book. I did purchase it but didn't have the patience to read it (that's just me). I highly recommend purchasing the dvds instead. The visual demo vs. written explanation is much better to follow in my opinion.

I make time to facercise once a day, virtually every day, and I must say, my face looks great. Better, tighter tone, a nice glow, my jawline is tighter...it's definitely worth the 11-20 minute a day effort (beginning dvd is about 11 minutes and the advanced is the balance).

I'm in my mid 40's and I also workout vigorously, at least 5 days a week (have for years and I love it). Most people believe I'm younger than I am by about 5-10 years. I've had men in their 20's inquire as to my availability (flattering but wouldn't go there myself) and 30's + (very flattering)...

But much more important, when I'm done facercising, I feel great; energized, and it feels great to take care of and invest this time and effort towards my well-being.

I'm very happy with my results and will continue to facercise :o)
