Book Description
A little wool, a little needle and a lot of sweetness!

Sweet Needle Felts teaches you how to use wool roving or yarn to create beautiful, touchable felt projects. Learn to embellish everything from wearable accessories, like scarves and hats, to favorite items for the home, such as pillows and photo albums. If you're feeling more adventurous, move on to sculpting wool into one-of-a-kind bowls, necklaces and even cute critters and dolls. Whether you're adding a finishing touch or starting a project from scratch, Sweet Needle Felts shows you the endless possibilities of needle felting, including:

  • Rich and textured fabric artwork. You'll be surprised how simple and fast it is to create.
  • Woolly Critter T's that you can make in minutes. They're the perfect and inexpensive way to make something special from a plain T-shirt.
  • Whimsical creatures with fully movable joints. Sculpt wool roving to make your own menagerie of these cute animals.
All 25 projects in Sweet Needle Felts require just a little time and a few materials. You'll want to make these as gifts for dear friends--but you better make two, because you'll fall in love with them yourself.

5 out of 5 stars This book is awesome!   May 16, 2008

A admit it. I was a little skittish about getting this book because of one of the so-so reviews that was posted. So, I decided to check it out from the library first. Well, I MUST get my very own copy ASAP. The book is perfect, in my opinion. There are tons for clear color photos and concise, easy-to-follow instructions. The author has a wide variety of projects employing different needle-felting techniques, and I can't wait to try them all. In addition to the adorable creatures featured on the cover, there are projects to make a stylish handbag, an embellished scarf, a really cool rug (I fear it would cost a fortune to make it, but it IS stunning), and really pretty flowers.

I've never tried needle felting before, but I'm eager to try it after reading this book.

5 out of 5 stars Lot's of fun   May 15, 2008

I have been wanting to buy this book ever since I saw Jenn Docherty on Martha Stewart's show a while back. The crafts on that show were so cute that I just wanted to give it a shot myself. I have to say that the few negative reviews here did give me pause, but remembering what I saw on the show I figured it was worth the risk. Ican now say that it was well worth the risk. The techniques are certainly great to learn and I can see applying this to my own unique creations as I get better.

I'd highly recommend getting the book.

5 out of 5 stars Intresting read, fun projects   May 15, 2008

I can't believe this book has gotten as many negative reviews as it has! I pre-ordered it prior to it's release and love it! I've been needle felting for a while now and am really enjoying the projects. Sure not all of them are for me but the techniques used in all the projects are applicable to whatever I am doing. I buy these books to help me learn the craft and hone my skills in said craft, not just pump out cookie cutter copies of the projects the author has already written. What fun is there in that? If that's what you're looking to do don't bother with books, save your time and money and go buy the stuff already made on Etsy.

2 out of 5 stars Great cover   May 14, 2008

I was so excited when I got this book because the cover picture hooked me right away. So I was a little let down after receiving it to discover that most of the projects just aren't my "style." For example, a "gumdrop ring" that is a golf ball-size ball of felt attached to a ring base. Or a flower pin that looks to be about the size of a dinner plate. And some of the projects, like the "birdie mobile," look like--to me, anyway--they need maybe one more step or two to really look "finished." The techniques, I think, are rather interesting, however, and I hope to learn something from this book now that I bought it. Others may really love it if their syle is more fun/funky/juvenile. The cover is really the best part,in my opinion, and my eleven-year-old may enjoy the bulk of these projects more than me.

5 out of 5 stars "would buy again"   May 8, 2008

I bought this for my sister who's an avid crafter. Although she's new to needle felting she's really been enjoying the book. No regrets on the purchase she's easily gotten a few hours in on it already.
