Great Book January 12, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great book on Arizona. I kind of wish it had a bit more in the Grand Canyon, Marble Canyon or other parts of Northern Arizona, but it gives a huge sampling of what is available throughout the state. I can't wait to get down there again.
The book is well written and covers important subjects such as ethics.

Finally, a guide to the lesser-known technical canyons of Arizona. Clear and concise descriptions and maps of numerous hidden hikes throughout the state. You will find easy to use driving directions and straightforward hiking routes with helpful tips on downclimbing, anchoring and ropework needed to negotiate the canyons. The book is full of wonderful photos, mischievous illustrations and tone of respect for the desert wilderness. The reference map and chart of canyons and the author's five star rating system will allow you to select your ultimate Arizona experience.
INDISPENSABLE October 16, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
For anyone venturing into the technical canyons of Arizona, Todd Martin's guide is essential reading. Over 40 canyons throughout the state are comprehensively described in practical detail - pretty much all the information you'll need (in addition to your skills and experience) to explore these awesome canyons. Too many great features to mention - difficulty ratings, maps, required gear lists, color photos, entertaining descriptions and more. This book far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!
