Product Description Continuing in the tradition of Sports Illustrateds 50th Anniversary Book and The Football Book comes a spectacular celebration of baseball that will be treasured by fans of the National Pastime. With the same kind of unforgettable photographs and award-winning writing that propelled The Football Book to surpass the sales of The Anniversary Book, a New York Times best-seller, this lavish coffee-table volume brings to life the legendary players, the classic action and the great traditions of the Summer Game. In 294 oversized pages, The Baseball Book commemorates the epic teams and characters, the crucial plays and classic games, the personalities and performances and artifacts that have kept baseball at the heart of American sports for more than a century.

Great for baseball fans September 6, 2008 Book that is great for baseball fans. Photos and facts that are good fun for an old man to sit down with.
Baseball, baseball & more baseball August 31, 2008 Bought this book for my adult son's birthday - a baseball fanatic - needless to say, he loooooooooves it!
GREAT Birthday Gift for a Fanatic August 29, 2008 I gave this to an 80 yr old fanatic, who immediately looked at a photo, said who it was, and then gave a sports announcer history commentary! I was surprised he hadn't received it earlier, but I took the chance. The photos are really impressive - even for me; the rest was beyond my interest. So- judging from HIS reaction, I would say it is a pretty fantastic book for a baseball nut.

I have Sports Illustrated's 50th Anniversary Book and The Football Book, so I decided to get this spectacular celebration of baseball. If you enjoy watching baseball, seeing how the game has changed over the years and reading about the players' lives, you'll love Sports Illustrated's Baseball Book. Great sportswriting from past eras are reproduced here with plenty of lose-ups that bring back memories, charts and trivia. Whenever company comes over, this is the book everyone seems to pick up and can't put down. If you love a team--any team--you'll love this!
Great pictures, wonderful stories May 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am 100% baseball fan. Since being a kid I was moved by the great players achievements. I enjoyed this bokk throughly. It's a work very well done and a prize for sports book's collectors. The only thing I regret is that, for unknown reasons, some of baseball hall of fame players pictures were not included, namely Harmon Killebrew.
