Book Description Harness the power of your own mind! Hypnosis is now a mainstream, modern training technique used by top professionals; it's not the submissive state that has been portrayed in movies and misunderstood by the public. It can help you sharpen your mental focus, relax your body, visualize success, stimulate healing, and control your emotions during training or when facing an important competition. The positive effects allow you to approach what sport psychologists, coaches, and athletes refer to when they talk about "getting in the zone." This state of mental functioning allows you to channel attention and energies toward the task at hand. Sport Hypnosis is a guide to that special psychological realm and the higher performance athletes aspire to. Author Dr. Don Liggett presents the hypnosis techniques that he has applied effectively with athletes in many different sports. You can adopt these techniques readily to your own training and competitions. If you're looking for a way to improve the mental side of your performance equation, Sport Hypnosis just may be the edge you need to become a champion.

Intelligent survey and introduction February 19, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A serious and informative introduction to a murky subject. A variety of athlete examples are given (kayaking, pole-vaulting, basketball, football) but alas, nothing directly pertinent to what I wanted.
Sports Hypnosis, reviewed by Christopher R. Newton December 19, 2000 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This book is excellent. As a sports hypnosist myself, I understand it's potential value in so many immediately relevant areas. It covers a wide range of examples, but not just American sports like American football and baseball. This book has worldwide appealThe writing style clear, without vague generalisations. It covers pain relief - an all too common problem. It goes into establishing a rapport with cynical clients, by giving immediate solutions to some of the many problems sportsmen and women face everyday As some of you will already know sports hypnosis is able to improve anyones abilites. Running faster, make them stronger than before. Don't forget hypnosis is not a conjuring trick, it's for real, with no use of drugs. Best wishes to all Christopher R. Newton
