| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This best-seller is known in the field for being the most comprehensive treatment of groups available. This revision has been thoroughly updated to reflect the latest research as well as the latest applications to organizational, industrial, educational, judiciary, athletic, and interpersonal settings. Writing in a friendly style, Forsyth builds each chapter around a separate, real-life case example and integrates various perspectives from disciplines such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, education, and political science to achieve a comprehensive analysis of group behavior. The concepts, tightly woven with pedagogy, teach the students about group dynamics rather than simply exposing them to basic principles and research findings.

Excellent Textbook November 23, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Intended as a college text, Forsyth explores all aspects of group dynamics in this one book. Writing is clear, examples are cited extensively and there are numerous tables and diagrams to help the reader absorb the material. It is not intended as light reading or as a practical guide to dealing with group conflict. Instead, it is an excellent and fairly comprehensive theoretical reference book.
Assigned Textbook October 10, 2005 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Some interesting information, but I don't know if I would recommend it to someone if it were not assigned.
Not an introductory book to read .... April 8, 2001 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
The book by Forsyth 'Group Dynamics' was written in a friendly, easy to understand style .... and it reflects research and applications in fields of I/O, Educational, Judiciary, Sports and Interpersonal settings .... group dynamics written in social and cognitive psych approach to groups.... What I especially like about this book is that it focuses specially on groups ..... as in social psych theories relating to groups (group decision making, cohesion, individuality-collectivity, environmental .,) ... including real-life case studies related to MNC's.
Forsyth discusses the basics of group theories. January 29, 1999 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
As can be expected in a field as broad as group theory, Forsyth does not explain in depth the various theories of group interactions, nor does he endorse any particular one as absolutely correct. He does, however, highlight the pertinent points of each theorist so that the reader can achieve a full appreciation for the work and experiments done in this field. The text is an excellent resource for students or curious readers new to the groups studies.
