Editorial Reviews:

Book Description
The battle cry from day one for the 2006 Ohio State Buckeyes has been "Just One Agenda". Individual goals and outside distractions were checked at the door at the first team meeting. In their place, Coach Jim Tressel instilled a culture of team accomplishment that took root immediately and has grown with each week of the Buckeyes' grueling Big Ten season. The reward has been a perfect 12-0 record, culminating with a dramatic, historic victory over Michigan on November 18, and resulting in a berth in the BCS national title game. This insider's account of one of the greatest seasons in college football history goes behind the scenes to describe to fans what it takes to make a champion.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars No, this is not an oops.   July 15, 2008
Contrary to another reviewer's assertion, this book is not an "oops," nor is it "less relevant" because OSU went on to lose the title game to Florida. Such thinking ignores what an extraordinary feat (strength, discipline, fortitude) it is for any team to even make it to an NCAA national championship game, let alone to go into that game undefeated after a grueling Big Ten and out-of-conference schedule (including a win over a top-ranked University of Texas team). The fact that OSU has made it to three national championship games in six years, two national championship games in a row, and walked away with a victory over a seemingly unbeatable University of Miami team in 2002 is a testament to the fundamental relevance of the ideals espoused by the OSU coaching staff and embodied by the OSU players.

1 out of 5 stars OOOPS   January 11, 2007

I guess this book is less relevant and certainly not part of a series since the OSU was blown out in the BCS Championship game by The U of Florida by a score of 41-14. Book is only useful to most diehard Ohio State fans and Jim Tressel's family.

3 out of 5 stars News From The 'Shoe, So Far   January 6, 2007
12-0 is one of several books rushed to publication chronicling the 2006 Ohio State undefeated regular season, Big Ten Championship and lofty number one ranking going into the January 8th title game versus the Florida Gators.

Author Steve Snapp is a media liasion for OSU athletics - hence, the subtitle, An Insider's Account - and he gives recaps of each game, focusing on the big plays and key contributors. There are also photographs and - unlike other books - an introduction written by coach Jim Tressel.

The book will certainly be part of a series if Ohio State defeats Florida, since the national title game will merit a publication of its own. So, 12-0 can be seen in one of two ways; a stand-alone book that merited publication due to the outstanding season or an incomplete view of what may be another national championship for Tressel and the team.

Snapp has written a lot of copy during his time with the OSU athletics' department and a reader won't find better text unless being a subscriber to the Buckeye Sports Bulletin, a newspaper not affiliated with the university. But a Buckeye victory in the championship Bowl Game will make 12-0 old news and fans at around 11:30 p.m. on January 8th will be clamoring for a complete record of the entire season, including the Florida game.
