Product Description
Persistence. Perseverance. Survival. Drew Pearson has achieved greatness on and off the football field. As one of the NFL's greatest wide receivers-Mr. Clutch-he is best known for one of the most famous plays in NFL history, the Hail Mary reception. Born on January 12, 1951 in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up along with six brothers and sisters in South River, New Jersey where he was an outstanding high school athlete. He played college football for the university of Tulsa as a quarterback and flanker. He went on, as an un-drafted free agent, to play eleven years for the Dallas Cowboys. His successful career with the Cowboys resulted in three Super Bowl and three NFC Pro Bowl appearances. In addition, Drew made All Pro three times and was selected to the NFL 1970s All-Decade team. In his life after football Drew Pearson Companies have become the nation's largest black sporting goods concern. (Drew Pearson Enterprises, Inc.) Black Enterprise 100s named them Company of the Year in 1994. Drew contributes significantly, with both time and money, to a vast array of charitable causes.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Quick Read   February 4, 2006
THis book read surprisingly quickly. There were really no dull moments, except the chapters that dealt with specific football games. Thankfully, that was few. A lot of questions were left unanswered, but I especially enjoyed his take and opinion of other Cowboys.
