5 out of 5 stars Won a state championship with this coach   January 5, 2002

I know this author very well. He began coaching at a high school, who in its 25 years of existence had never won a state championship in football. Scott Smith began coaching 3 years ago, and with his outstanding coaching, helped this football team win its first state championship ever. In fact, the football team went undefeated for the first time. He knows the game of football very well and his techniques proved effective. I would recommend any coach to read this book.

1 out of 5 stars By far ...the WORST of the Coaches Choice Library.....   November 10, 2001

Mere words cannot express my sheer dissapointment with this book. I'm not sure why this book was written or published. Coaches Choice which for years has been putting out fantastic books for football coaches must have been asleep when this one got approved. Quite frankly coming from this publisher that is a BIG dissapointment! First of all, they already have a good book on spread option football written by Tim Stowers it would be down right absurd to suggest this book could compete with that or with Al Black's Coaching Run and Shoot Football. Second of all, this book presents absolutely nothing new! No new plays, no new teaching methods, no new techniques, not a thing that would make me use this book for more than example of how to waste coaches time and money.

For coaches truely seeking a diversified slot offense (Ie a one back offense double slot offense that employs motion and counters while spreading the defense) that is not strictly the Run and Shoot or GA Southern Style spread option try Tom Smythes Explosive Double Slot, written over 10 years ago it makes this book look thin by comparison and no true reader of football books can say otherwise.Coaches looking for a one back power offense should try Jerry Vallotton's The Toss. Coaches that want typical clinic talk and useless info should buy this book, waste their time and expect losing seasons. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
