A Lifetime Change November 17, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was skeptical when I first picked up this book years ago because I knew that weight loss and healthy living were lifestyle choices, not short-term diet plans. I was pleased to see that Denise Austin agreed with me. Her book outlines exactly what to do for 21 days, but she says this is just to get you going. Permanent health means permanent changes. Her plan moves you into these changes slowly and with lots of encouraging words. It is sensible. If you are looking for a way to "jump start" yourself toward healthier changes for life, this is a great place to start!
Pretty Good Diet Book October 30, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I read a lot of diet books; this book impressed me a little more than most. The diet plan gives you a pretty good outline of how you should be eating and exercising for 21 days. If you are one of those people like me who like to have a plan mapped out for you this might be a book you would like. The recipes are reasonable and actually worth trying and the exercise plans are sensible. I would recommend this book to someone wanting to improve his or her diet and make healthy eating a habit.
Good Idea, but hard to stick to January 20, 2003 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have bought a few books by Denise Austin and I thought this one would be a greta idea, but I didn't really like it. The first portion of the book before you reach the 21 days is great information, but the meal plans did not seem very appetizing to me. She says that you need to stick to her exact routine for it to work and it just did not fit into my life and it has been sitting on the book shelf ever since.
Great Book for Beginners August 15, 2002 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I thought this book was great! Delicious recipes that were fast and an easy way to get into a physical routine. This is for beginners though. For those of us who have been working out for sometime, the cardio-section will not offer you what you are looking for, even though you will learn where you should be working out in regards to heart-rate. However, the toning is great for all (Denise only uses 5 lbs. anyway!) and I really like the Minimum Daily Requirement. It usually motivated me to continue into my workout. She also allows a day of rest; something that I really enjoyed as well! Once through the book a couple of times, you may want to get her "Last 10 Pounds" like I'm doing. Good luck and remember "You are worth it!!"
BUY THIS BOOK - If you want to lose weight! April 6, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this book. It's so easy to follow. I'm probably one of the most pickiest eaters around. I definitely have a difficult time trying new things - especially healthy food. The recipes are so delicious that even my 4 year old loves them. However, I recommend adding some fat calories to your children's food since they need them. Each chapter is broken up into days (around 2 to 3 pages) so every night I read it before bed and motivated the next morning. The exercise routines are easy to follow and accommodating to anyone's busy schedule. FYI I have a 5 month old too and able to make dinner every night for my family. It makes life easy when a book gives you a shopping list and menu to follow each week.
