Product Description
In this thoroughly researched and documented book, the #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry explains why the extreme leftism of an Obama presidency would leave the United States weakened, diminished and divided, why Obama must be defeated—and how he can be. THE OBAMA NATION Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality Barack Obama stepped onto the national political stage when the then-Illinois State senator addressed the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Soon after Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, author Jerome Corsi began researching Obama's personal and political background. Scrupulously sourced with more than 600 footnotes, THE OBAMA NATION is the result of that research. By tracing Obama's career and influences from his early years in Hawaii and Indonesia, the beginnings of his political career in Chicago, his voting record in the Illinois legislature, his religious training and his adoption of Christianity through to his recent involvement in Kenyan politics, his political advisors and fundraising associates and his meteoric campaign for president, Jerome Corsi shows that an Obama presidency would, in his words, be “a repeat of the failed extremist politics that have characterized and plagued Democratic Party politics since the late 1960s.” In this stunning and comprehensive new book, the reader will learn about: -Obama's extensive connections with Islam and radical politics, from his father and step-father's Islamic backgrounds, to his Communist and socialist mentors in Hawaii and Chicago, to his long-term and close associations with former Weather Underground heroes William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn—associations much closer than heretofore revealed by the press -Barack and Michelle's 20-year-long religious affiliation with the black-liberation theology of former Trinity United Church of Christ Reverend Jeremiah Wright, whose sermons have always been steeped in a rage first expressed by Franz Fanon , Stokely Carmichael and Malcolm X, a rage that Corsi shows has deep meaning for Obama -Obama's continuing connections with Kenya, the homeland of his father, through his support for the candidacy of Raila Odinga, the radical socialist presidential contender who came to power amid Islamist violence and church burnings -Obama's involvement in the slum-landlord empire of the Chicago political fixer Tony Rezko, who helped to bankroll Obama's initial campaigns and to purchase of Barack and Michelle's dream-home property. -the background and techniques of the Obama campaign's cult of personality, including the derivation of the words “hope” and change” -Obama's far-left domestic policy, his controversial votes on abortion, his history of opposition to the Second Amendment, his determination to raise capital-gains taxes, his impractical plan to achieve universal health care, and his radical plan to tax Americans to fund a global-poverty-reduction program -Obama's naive, anti-war, anti-nuclear foreign-policy, predicated on the reduction of the military, the eradication of nuclear weapons and an overconfidence in the power of his personality, as if belief in change alone could somehow transform international politics, achieve nuclear-weapons disarmament and withdrawal from Iraq without adverse consequences, for us, for the Iraqis or for Israel. Meticulously researched and documented, THE OBAMA NATION is the definitive source for information on why and how Barack Obama must be defeated—not by invective and general attacks, but by detailed arguments that are well-researched and fact-based.

Yes, know the truth!!! August 29, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Get this book if you have any concern for who is trying to take control of this nation. See the truth that the Liberal media is trying to hide.
Detailed and Informative August 29, 2008 Reading the negative reviews, it is clear that many of them have not read this book. I've just finished the audiobook and the statement that "this book makes absolutely no attempt to be objective in any way" is simply untrue and an outright lie. It certainly makes detailed attempts and accurately details many specifics of the Obama background that other reporters have failed or are unwilling to report. Certainly there is opinion in this book, but there is also documented fact. An educated reader who actually finishes the book can discern the difference.
Given the import of the position sought, Obama's background and record must be detailed. If this reveals some inconvenient truths (such as Barack and Michelle's long-term relationship with Rev. Wright or his friendship with Ayers), so be it. Unfortunately, simply revealing facts or questioning these relationships gets calls for silence and threats of legal action. So much for free speech.
A work in progress August 29, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ignore the people who are calling this a hatchet job or junk or whatever ... they've not got a leg to stand on.
A Harvard PhD in political science has written a book that is thoroughly researched and footnoted.
Read it for yourself (I'm two chapters in and that is why I've only given it 3 stars ... I reserve the right to raise or lower when I finish) and make your own judgements.
More of the same, partisan reinforcement of debunked Obama criticisms August 29, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
While the author claims that the material is meticulously documented and footnoted, there is a strange lack of supporting material for the majority of the overwhelmingly negative conclusions. An example is in the chapter discussing Raila Odinga, where the author claims Obama supported Raila Odinga in his divisive Kenyan presidential bid. First, the author tries to make it appear that Obama visited Kenya during the election season, when in fact Obama visited in 2006, and Odinga didn't declare his candidacy until 2007. Second, I found no footnotes or documentation that showed Obama going on record in support of Odinga - not a single first or second hand account of Obama saying - "I like Raila Odinga", or "What Kenya needs is someone like Raila Odinga". What he does show is that Odinga was one of the people on the stage while Obama gave a speech - along with a number of other local dignitaries and politicians. Oh, and also Obama was critical of the Kenyan government for being corrupt and not paying enough attention to the troubles of the underclass - opinions that were not at the time particularly controversial, even commonly accepted.
Another example is the section where the author takes pains to associate Islam with Obama by way of his father. The author uses the following quote from Obama's paternal uncle - 'I did not see my brother practice Islam, especially after he returned from his studies in the U.S. I did not consider him to be very religious.' to support this conclusion: "Listening to Sayid there is little doubt Obama senior was a Muslim by birth and upbringing, even if his devotion as a Muslim remained in doubt." Most people hearing Sayid's account would have little doubt Obama's father was not a practicing Muslim, especially since this is the way Obama describes him consistently. Why is it so important then that he was a Muslim 'by birth and upbringning' if he rejected Islam personally?
Anyone who reads this book as a strong indictment of Obama is either already inclined to believe Obama is a closet muslim, marxist fifth column, etc etc, or does not have the intelligence to see through this weak construction of innuendo, half-truths, and misleading and disingenuous logic.
Political Hatchet Job August 29, 2008 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
Corsi is an admitted fabulist and a paid propagandist. The sole purpose of this book is to create fear, uncertainty and doubt in the American electorate. It is full of lies and misrepresentation and is the worst kind of fiction.
