Product Description The student-friendly fourth edition expands on the fundamentals of motor performance and learning, providing valuable supporting literature and current research results in an accessible and engaging format. This text goes beyond simply presenting the latest research. Instead, the authors challenge students not only to grasp but also to apply the fundamental concepts of motor performance and learning via a unique situation-based approach.By working through situation-based exercises and case studies, students learn how to ask appropriate questions, identify solutions and support their answers with theory or research.More than 76 new references, exercises, updates figures and photos and improved chapter features makes the fourth edition the most user-friendly edition to date. Each chapter is organised to include an outline listing the major topics to be presented, objectives that alert students to key content for mastery, an opening case study that previews the content within the context of a real-life example and research highlight boxes to provide more detailed descriptions of important experiments and concepts. Also included is a running glossary for instant definitions of terms as they are introduced in the text.

User-friendly text on motor learning theory & applications July 25, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having recently been assigned to teach a motor learning course this fall, I obtained, read, and have adopted this text for my course. The problem-based approach is helpful in making the connection between theory and application. The authors should try to put diagrams on the page which discusses them as it is sometimes confusing trying to examine them while reading the paragraphs related to the figures and tables being referenced. Ancillary materials for instructors should be expanded and I understand that the 4th edition is supposed to be ready for release in November with PowerPoints, test questions, etc. available for instructors who adopt the book. This will be GREATLY appreciated.
