Product Description Revenge becomes very personal for Doc Ford, in the stunning new novel by the New York Times-bestselling author.
It was a simple exchange. Clean. So why did things go so terribly wrong?
It went against all of Ford's instincts. When his goddaughter, Shanay, called one day, he assumed it was with details of her imminent wedding, but the news was anything but cheerful. She and her bridesmaids had thrown a pretty wild bachelorette party, it seemed, on St. Arcs, in the Windward Islands-and someone had secretly videotaped it. Now that person was threatening to blow up her future unless she came across with enough money. "But don't worry, Doc," she said. "I negotiated it down. All I need you to do is make the exchange. Please?"
Ford knew it was a mistake-a mistake to trust the extortionist, a mistake for her not to tell her fianc-but he agreed. And now one of the bridesmaids is near death. The blackmailer took the money and released the tape on the Internet anyway, and the panicked bridesmaid took an overdose of pills washed down with alcohol.
Fueled by guilt and an overpowering rage, Ford and his friend Tomlinson swear to destroy the person responsible, but she-and it is a woman-has other ideas. An agent of corruption like no one they have ever met, the black widow is just getting started. . . .
"Readers should buckle their seat belts before they crack the covers," the Detroit Free Press said of Hunter's Moon. "This one is a dark and supercharged ride." And so it is again. But nothing will prepare the reader for the twists, the adrenaline, and the sheer intensity of Black Widow.

Randy's slipping. November 16, 2008 I've read just about all of Randy's books and have been a big fan of the Doc Ford series, but this one seems like he just mailed it in. Lousy characters and plot. I agree with another person of noticing a change in the Doc Ford character too. I also prefer a little less moralistic education in my entertainment reading, he seems to have been increasing it a bit lately. Parts of this book read like a Public Service Announcement. Hopefully Randy & Doc will return to normal in subsequent books.
It started as a simple exchange... October 22, 2008 Randy Wayne White is my favorite Florida author (sorry, Carl Hiassen) and this is his 14th novel featuring marine biologist-cum-government operative Marion "Doc" Ford. Ford's goddaughter is caught on tape in a sexually compromising position, which jeopardizes her future marriage into a high society family. Ford investigates the island where the tryst took place and finds a luxury spa hiding some deadly extortionists. The plot is fast-paced and the characters are likable and believable, although Ford's hippie pal Tomlinson only has a couple of hilarious scenes in this novel.
A fast-paced saga which springs to life in audio October 10, 2008 Veteran audio narrator George Guidall's voice spices a moving story of revenge gone bad revolving around a wild bachelorette party, a secret videotape, and a godfather hired to make an exchange when blackmail enters the picture. Ford reluctantly agrees to the delivery job - and unwittingly becomes involved in death and revenge in this fast-paced saga which springs to life in audio.

Pretty Solid September 4, 2008 This was a standard Doc Ford novel, but with pockets of greatness. Ford, in my opinion, is at his best when he gets into banter with Tomlinson, or talks about real every day life in Sanibel. I really liked the final couple pages of the book, and the beginning of the novel especially. I give it 4 stars because it's Doc Ford, and all his books are fun to read.
