Amazon.com Ben Hogan's premise in this 1957 classic is driven home in bold letters: "THE AVERAGE GOLFER IS ENTIRELY CAPABLE OF BUILDING A REPEATING SWING AND BREAKING 80." Religions are founded on less, and Hogan's detailed analyses and illustrated demonstrations of grip, stance, posture, and the two basic components of the swing make up a sacred book. Though its very simplicity seems dated, this is the tome of technique that should serve as the foundation of every golf library.
Product Description The building blocks of winning golf -- from one of the masters of the game.Ben Hogan, one of the greatest golfers in the history of the sport, believed that any golfer with average coordination can learn to break 80 -- if one applies oneself patiently and intelligently. With the techniques revealed in this classic book, you can learn how to make your game work from tee to green, step-by-step and stroke by stroke. In each chapter, a different tested fundamental is explained and demonstrated with clear illustrations -- as though Hogan were giving you a personal lesson with the same skill and precision that made him a legend. Whether you're a novice player or an experienced pro, Ben Hogan's Five Lessons is a must-have reference for anyone who knows that fundamentals are where champions begin.

Makes golf simple! February 20, 2008 This book is amazing. It breaks the full golf swing into several easy to understand fundamentals. After reading Hogan's view of the full swing I feel like I understand the golf swing for the first time. This book will make anyone better. I am currently practicing the things he suggests. I can tell you that after a week I have already seen an improvment in my ball striking and trajectory. I look forward to working on my swing and eventually breaking 80 regularly, which Hogan thought anyone could do if they understood the fundamentals of the golf swing. This book is a must own for anyone who wants to play better golf!
The perfect one. February 8, 2008 I think it's the best swing manual. It's very detailed and very tecnical but the illustration of mr. Ravielli are very very clear and help the writer (a legend of golf) to explain in a very clear way.
Everyone who want to taste the "spirit of the game" has to read this book!

This book is one of the classic golf instructional books. There are numerous books out today that do a much better job of teaching the golf swing.
If you want to buy this book because it is a classic, then by all means buy it. If you are new to golf and looking for your first book to help you learn the golf swing, look elsewhere.
If you're a golfer, it's a MUST have!!!! January 14, 2008 Great reference book. I am still reading it, but it is making so much sense. Maybe i will end up being a decent golfer?!?!!
Great book along with illustrations January 12, 2008 I've been playing golf for about 3 years. I've had a couple of lessons from a couple of different instructors, but the book gave me an overall better understanding of the golf swing. It has great illustrations that are great for visual learners. There are plenty of books out there on how to hit the ball farther, straighter and more accurately, but i've found that mastering the basics is the first step to a better golf game. Hogan gives examples from how to grip the club and how to finish the swing. Really good read for any golfer!
