Best Coaching Book I have read September 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been reading many coaching books since this is my first year coaching. I have completed the NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma and the USSF E license. The Instructors in My E License Course were in Love with the Dutch Style and were preaching it. It was funny because one of the students from Latin American turned to me and asked why was the instructor so obsessed with the Dutch Style. I have attended a Coaching Symposium that DC United hosted with the coaches from the Youth Academy of the Brazilian Minas Gerais team Clube Atletico Mineiro and learned some good drills to use with my youth team. This book is trying to teach some of the Brazilian training philosophy to American coaches. I realize that most of the American kids are not brought up with the Brazilian culture, but the Brazilian style of Football is the most attractive and I think that the American Coaching Culture needs to try to adopt it and try to encourage the Brazilian flair in our Young players. I think this book is a step in the right direction. It would be a good book to read before each season because I think multiple readings of the book will help the philosophy sink in and help give a Youth Coach good ideas to use in training his or her players.
