Book Description
Get that monkey off your back! Start with a monkey. It comes from your subordinates shifting their responsibility to you -- until you're working for them! How does the successful manager keep monkeys off his back? In this lively, provocative seminar, two of today's foremost consultants show you: * How to recognize monkeys before they land on your back * How to stop your subordinates from imposing unnecessary time demands on you * Why "an honest day's work for a fair day's pay" does not apply to managers * The real answer to the Manager's Lament: "where does all the time go?" * Why you should be on the golf course on Saturday instead of at the office Be a smarter, tougher and better manager! Together and separately Kenneth Blanchard and William Oncken have trained and consulted with America's largest corporations. Now they bring their unique style and hard-hitting program to audio -- to help you take charge of your job and your life.

"It's tough to work for a nervous boss; especially if you are the one who's making your boss nervous." June 6, 2008 Solving problems (or as Blanchard refers to them... monkeys) is something everyone must get better at throughout life. Regardless if you are in the field of business, medical, or even in parenting, solving problems is a big part of being successful every day. That's why I think this book is for everyone. I personally took away valuable knowledge on how to delegate properly and keep a team of people moving in the same direction. One of the great arts of management is delegation and the principles in this book are simply fantastic ideas that when applied, do work. This book cost me $12 and it's helped to make companies I've worked for millions. Pretty good value!

The One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey February 15, 2008 It's an easy read with great information that any manager can implement immediately. The step by step approach with anecdotal stories on how to apply each step were helpful. The One Minute Manager Meets the Monkey (One Minute Manager)
Short, Simple, and Powerfully Effective February 13, 2008 by Paul Edward, author of Moving Forward: Turning Good Intentions Into Great Results by Discovering Yourself, Your Place, & Your Path.
Ken's book is required reading for all of my leadership students and clients who have trouble with taking on everyone else's problems.
Using conversational language, Ken gives the reader simple techniques for reuniting monkeys with their rightful owners.
A must read for everyone in leadership roles.
one simple idea, stretched out November 19, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Don't let subordinates dump their problems/responsibilities on you. That's the ENTIRE book. Stretched out just long enough, to rook people out of money. VERY little, for the money.
