Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Very Vintage: The Guide to Vintage Patterns and Clothing is a lavish celebration of vintage clothes, simultaneously providing insight into one of fashion's current trends and a review of 90 years of fashion history. Vintage has been a key reference point in fashion for many years.

Contemporary outlets, such as Beyond Retro and Rokit, amongst others, have helped push vintage into the mainstream, and it is now more widely associated with contemporary style icons than musty charity shops. Very Vintage tells you all you need to know about vintage clothing, providing a stunning visual overview of seven decades of fashion. The perfect guide for fashionistas and anyone who loves clothes!

Spanning 90 years of fashion, each era has a comprehensive section that is beautifully illustrated with original fashion photographs, hand drawn illustrations and clothing patterns. Arranged thematically by period, the book pays homage to fashion history whilst giving the garments contemporary relevance. Very Vintage profiles iconic designers such as Laura Ashley, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Mary Quant, Biba, John Galliano, Christian Dior and Chanel and includes a glossary of websites and outlets for sourcing vintage clothes and useful materials.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Nice pictures but full of errors   September 29, 2008
I can't recommend this book, as there are many superior offerings out there.
It is full of errors, both gramatical/spelling and factual. For example:
Charles Dana Gibson is refered to as Charles Dane, and Edith Head is credited as the designer of Princess Grace's wedding dress when it was in fact Helen Rose. These are just 2 examples of many, hardly a page passes without some error.
Also, the book spends a lot of time discussing events of post 1990- which is hardly vintage in my opinion.
Don't waste your time or money!
