5 out of 5 stars At Last, real self defence   December 30, 2003

This book is a must for all those people who are not self defence addicts. It's a no nonsense, realistic approach to what I regard as a sensitive issue..that is personal safety. To many people are given the wrong information reagrading self defence which also incorporates knowing the Law. This book gives the right information in a clear and precise way which is good. The point I would like to stress is this, it is not! full of 'lets kill, maim and destroy stuff' but is practical and easy to undertsand and does not come across as being written by thugs for other thugs. The other thing I am pleased to add (as a self defence instructor)is the experience that has been gained by the author (I assume this is the black belt author David Birdsall) has come across in the book very well. This experience of his has been transfered to the written page well (again I assume the writer Martin Dougherty is to thank)and I look forward to a more advanced book in the future(is there going to be a follow up?) I have and will continue to recommend this book to friends and students for its ease of reading and for the wealth of experience that is evident. With regards Sept.
