Product Description
Pornograpy and sex-related sites make up nearly 60 percent of daily web traffic. For some of us, it's going on in our very own basements or in the den after the family goes to bed. Over twenty million Americans spend a good deal of their waking hours looking at pornography. And they won't stop, because they can't stop. At least not on their own. They are addicted. Porn Nation captivates readers with the true story of Michael Leahy, a sex addict who only came to terms with his problem after losing his marriage and children. But it's also the story of the rest of us. It's the story of America- our porn nation. How is it affecting us? How is it changing the way we see ourselves and others? And what can be done about it?

Personal Account of One Man's Journey August 26, 2008 Michael Leahy has written a deeply personal and brutally honest book about his struggles with pornography. This book is not a scientific treatment of the subject. Those looking for a study of porn's effects in the overall culture will be disappointed. But for those who are looking for how porn can affect a person's life, Leahy's story is a worthwhile account. His story, in spite of the terrible loss of so much, has a redemptive ending. This book shows that for many people porn is not a harmless form of entertainment but brings great harm to families and individuals.
Not what I expected August 18, 2008 I was very disappointed with this book. As someone with a spouse that has a porn addiction, I did not find anything useful to help me cope with the issue. This book assumes that the addict will seek help and everyone goes home happy. Oh yeah, and don't forget that whole "God helped me" bit, I got tired of reading about God through the whole book (there is nothing wrong with that, just not my cup of tea). Just not what I expected as someone in a similar situation.
Great resource-Straight talk July 28, 2008 Very helpful. Takes off the gloves in investigating the defeat of many Christians. Describes the sexual attack on America, what it is, what we can do.
Porn & Sex can be addictive!!! June 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I remember years ago when I first heard of the term "sex addiction" after reading a book by Dr. Patrick Carnes, I giggled to myself saying "this is just another excuse that people are going to use to justify bad behavior". But this book shows that sex, just like any other "feel good" experience, can easily be perverted and become addicting. I know because I have struggled with an addiction to porn & sex, so much so that the first few chapters of this book almost read like my personal story. This book should be a wake up call for parents (because of the easy acces to porn online) and to mental health professionals. I think that if we are not careful, we are going to see more and more cases of sex addiction in the near future, because today's generation is the first generation to have un unprecedentedly easy easy access to porn through all digital media.
A great book, an easy read that should be a wake up call for America. Porn is not one of the most profitable industries for nothing. It is selling and selling big, the big question is at what cost to our spiritual, emotional and mental health?
Incredible Book!!! June 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just got done reading the book last week and WOW, did it really open my eyes to just how addictive pornography can be. I am a recovering sex & porn addict myself and have been clean and sober since Nov. 1999!
The book flowed well and was extremely well-written with just enough personal stories to keep me interested; to show me the depth and breadth of this addiction, but without a lot of the personal/sordid details that would turn me away from such a book.
I have a private practice specializing in this issue. I also do a lot of speaking on this topic as well and let me tell you: I will be strongly recommending this book to not only my clients, but also the attendees of my seminars and I will be presenting this book at my church and we will be studying it!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is either addicted or just wants to learn more about this kind of addiction.
Michael, thank you for being bold and brave and sharing your personal journey or pain and healing!
